Owner description: This beautiful museum, once a railroad station, now houses a staggering collection of Impressionist art, as well as other items created between 1848 and 1914. In 2011, the museum is running a renovation of the top floor (impressionist gallery). Only ground and medium floor are accessible. The top floor will re-open on the 20th of October. Meanwhile, some impressionist masterpieces are not visible.

“Better than Louvre in my opinion”
Reviewed 31 July 2012

Musee d'Orsay is a great museum with a lot to offer. The impressionists impress me more than Reneissance style, due to this I prefer Musee D'Orsay than the Louvre.

It is not too huge and on an afternoon explorable.
You can visit its cafe, it is really nice there.

“Fantastic museum!”
Reviewed 31 July 2012

We've been to the d'Orsay several times and love it! Just be warned that now they don't allow photos to be taken in the museum.

“Come for the building, stay for the art”
Reviewed 30 July 2012

This museum is a former train station. It has wonderful architecture. It is much more user friendly than the Louvre and has a great collection of Gauguins and Van Goghs. Unfortunately those paintings were hard to see because they of course are highlighted on the video/auditory guides that you can rent. It got very tight in the rooms at times. All of this is to be expected but it did Take a bit away from the experience. Unfortunately "Whistler's Mother" was out on loan.

“Beautiful building”
Reviewed 30 July 2012

The building is almost as beautiful as the art it houses. We are a young couple and to to keen on stuffy art galleries but this was a lot of fun and lovely experience. Not too expensive either but watch out for the scam artists trying it on with people waiting in line to get in.
