Owner description: This beautiful museum, once a railroad station, now houses a staggering collection of Impressionist art, as well as other items created between 1848 and 1914. In 2011, the museum is running a renovation of the top floor (impressionist gallery). Only ground and medium floor are accessible. The top floor will re-open on the 20th of October. Meanwhile, some impressionist masterpieces are not visible.

“impressive!”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

really liked it- 2nd trip to paris, 1st to Musee D'Orsay.
lots of Impressionists (more than Louvre) which is my fave movement of painters.

the building itself being a renovated former train station adds character and natural light pouring in from the ceiling.

two hours easily spent.

cafe downstairs, and the restaurant upstairs- long queues for them both so didnt not get to try, but the restaurant looked impressive decor.

“Great space and extraordinary collection”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

The old railway station has made an excellent exhibition space and the collection of impressionist art must be the best in the world. It is of course a victim of its own success in that the queues were terrible although no worse that those at the Louvre.
