“Not a 5-Star Flat - Can't see Eiffel Tower from this rooftop”
Reviewed 8 May 2015 for a stay in May 2014

We stayed here for 1 week in May, 2014 for our 3rd leg stop during our european trip to Rome, London, and Paris.

The flat was in a great location and was close to everything from the 2 metro (subway) stations to a local post office. We originally booked this place thinking that it had the view of the eiffel tower as suggested in one of the pictures posted here by the owner. But it doesn't. The picture was likely taken from the high ground of Sacre-Coeur Basilica on a clear day. You can NOT see the view of the Eiffel tower even from the rooftop of this place. My wife and Mom-in-law disliked the 5 flights of stairs, and this definitely limited our willingness to come and go freely.

The flat did not meet our expectation uppon arrival and appears to be an old and cluttered place. It was probably more fit for someone's vacation flat but was definitely not up to par for a tourist rental place. The frid was uncleaned and still had leftover from previous renters. The kitchen was full of things but are probably not relevant for tourists. We basically just washed whatever we needed to use before hand.

The bedroom can use some updates. There is just enough room to walk between the bed and the TV stand. Perhaps the stand should go and the TV and accessories
should be mounted on the wall instead. As pointed out, this place was very cluttered.

The bathroom needed a field day as we could clearly see the outline of dust and debris in the corners and between the washer and dryer. We requested the owner to
change out the shower curtain as mold dew was visible at the bottom half.

Things we liked about this place:
The location is convenient and is generally a safe place with many restaurants and coffee shops right outside. There are two nearby
metro stations (Abbesses and Pigalle) within a short walking distance, but the post office is right across from the Abbesses station. This post office also sells sim cards; but during our time there in summer 2014, sim card for iPhone5 was not yet readily available. We could only get it from an authorized phone dealer in the area.

The info pack was among the very best and detailed. We were able to follow its instruction to catch a bus to the flat. There were also lots of tourist maps and materials at
the flat.

Owner was responsive and quick to communicate via email.
Both the washer and dryer were in good working order and were easy to use. Be sure to get washing detergent and more toilet paper from the market.
Wi-fi was working great.
Second toilet was a bonus.

Overall, we felt that the flat fell below our expectation and definitely did not deserve a 5-star rating on tripadvisor. We also stayed at other properties in Rome and
London (booking via Tripadvisor) on this trip, and they were way better. If it wasn't for the 5-star rating and the presumed Eiffel tower view, we would not
have booked this flat. There are other properties in this same area withou significant negatives we mentioned here.

Management Response
21 May 2015
Dear Jessie,

Thank you for your recent review of my apartment from your May 2014 visit.

This apartment has met (and often times went beyond) the expectations of 64 out of 67 guests who have kindly left a review so far, yours included. I am very sorry it did not meet yours.

That being said, in my listing as well as in the lease agreement that you signed at booking stage, it clearly spells out that there is no elevator to reach the apartment that is under the rooftops. It also clearly states that it overlooks a quiet Parisian courtyard, not the Eiffel Tower, unfortunately!

Note: Unlike a hotel room, daily cleaning is not provided during our guests stay, and toilet paper/soap, etc. is not provided either for more than a couple of days.

Once again, thank you for your review and I am happy to hear that you found the info pack to be useful!

Best Regards.

Patrick

“Amazing appartment in the heart of Montmatre”
Reviewed 30 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We spent 5 days in Paris. From the beginning the administrator was very helpful and interested in providing anything we need to have a pleasent trip.
The appartment is really fantastic. Fully equipped for cooking, washing, cleaning, etc. It is very well located in center of Montmatrre, close to shops, markets and 1 block to metro station.
Very easy to check in and according to specifications to check out, deposit was fully returned.
Housekeeper helped us with lugagge and then guide us trough a few blocks since we arrived on Sunday and shops were close, so he helped us finding one.
I highly recommend this appt, if you can manage to reserve it, then there is nothing but enjoying Paris!

The apartment is really cozy and pretty, i loved it! The area where it is located is amazing and there's a lot to do there, you'll never get bored. Also the metro is near the apartment which makes it easy to go and visit the whole city.

“Great location”

First the positive. We are a family of 3. The location in the center of Montmartre couldn't have been better. Restaurants and shops right outside the apartment building, and Metro links just down the street. The apartment was cozy, and decorated with lovely objet d'art, and equipped with most modern conveniences: washer and dryer, dish washer, coffee machine (which took a while to figure out), etc. The view was a small courtyard, 7 floors down, and other apartments on all sides - we felt a bit like James Stewart in the film Rear Window :-)

The negative. The owner forgot to tell the caretakers that we were coming, but we contacted them just before arrival and were told where to get keys, which went smoothly. However, the caretaker was not told that we were 3 guests, and we never did get a duvet cover for the sofa-bed. The sofa-bed was very hard, but our teenager said it was okay.

Six flights of stairs (120 steps) can be a bit difficult to manage, especially after a good meal and some wine. We are in relatively good shape and health, but the climb seemed to become more challenging as the days progressed - we stayed 6 nights. The space had been dusted and the floors and tabletops and bathroom nicely cleaned, but the tableware was spotty and the place really needed a good spring cleaning.

The website photos showed a fantastic view over the city and the Eiffel Tower, which was a major reason why we selected this apartment. There was no such view. The view consisted solely of the courtyard, which was charming but why have a photo of a non-existent skyline?
