I was recommended this restaurant by a friend in London. We booked a table several months prior to leaving Australia, online. We were welcomed into this amazing space by staff. The inside is truly surprising, when you have come in up the stairs from the Gare de Lyon. There is no strict dress code, so you are able to pop in before or after a train ride, or make it for a special occasion. The interior decor is mind blowing, so not-of-this-world.
We had viewed the menu online, and had decided to do the degustation, as we like to taste as many different dishes as we can. The dishes were of a very high standard, with many having the 'wow factor'. Creative and imaginative chefs have provided us with a variety of textures made with fresh and flavoursome produce & ingredients, complimented by the front of house staff, who were polite & courteous, whilst being friendly and fun. Each of the dishes was explained in detail to us, and any questions or additions/variations was handled without fuss. We had a dining time of 10pm, so the restaurant was not completely full, so we had plenty of time to take photos and enjoy our evening. Our meal finished at about 1am, after we lingered over coffee, and were never pressured to leave. The degustation menu was 105 euros pp that included champagne(my husband swapped for beer). The food was delightful and we were exceptionally pleased we came here. The next evening we went to a starred restaurant, and paid about triple the price, with 6 very boring dishes and not very approachable staff. Le Train Bleu was outstanding compared to that restaurant.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful fine dining experience in Paris, with the incredible decor an absolute bonus. We dined at the 2 starred Ledbury in London & Funky Gourmet in Athens, and felt this dining experience was not out of their league. Highly recommended.
