For context, I have stayed at F1 hotels previously and found them fine for overnight stays whilst travelling. This one in Besancon close to major routes and with good parking is a very poor example with dated appearance, dirty communal facilities (and I mean unpleasant), lights not working in some facilities, fittings missing in breakfast area, smashed glass in front door, one missing cereal and no replenishments available when requested. This was poor value at €44.50 for room and two breakfasts. Other F1 hotels - Cahors for exampl on the same trip - are great value, clean and comfortable with great staff. Not this one.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms ending in 01 as they're near stairs and facilities and are therefore noisier.

Given we didn't arrive at the hotel until nearly 1am, we weren't seeking nor expecting any frills. Having stayed in Forumle 1 hotels before I knew what to expect.

The hotel had recently been refurbished and the room was comfortable enough for our needs. Although the hotel was near a main road, traffic noise was not a problem and we managed to have a good nights sleep.

Didn't bother with the breakfast in the morning, it's poor value for money in my view, so we found a nearby McDonalds instead..

All in all, if you just want a functional nights stay and don't mind not having an en-suite bathroom, I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

We just wanted to stay for a night and a sleep but it turned to be a wonderful place to settle down for couple of days. The hotel is situated beautifully on top of a hill surrounded with green high hills. The city is just right under your feet. The accommodation was clean and neat. The staff amiable and helpful. Although the highways were nearby and we are very sensitive to noise at night, it did not bother us at all. In contrary it was somehow cosy and seemed perfectly normal. And the price; just €29 for a room for 3 persons.
Just try it.

Room Tip: Ask for nonsmoking and nice view

pros:
friendly and helpful receptionist who spoke English,
secure pin code room entry,
clean room and bathroom cubicle,
lots of cable TV channels,
wash basin in room,
microwave in lobby,
lots of tourist brochure information,
near Polyclinique Ginko Bus stop - 20 minute ride into town,
15 minute walk for Intermarche Supermarket and Laundry.

cons:
WIFI not free, but its a Formule 1 so not unexpected,
24 hour checkout with no paperwork.
