“Ok for short stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2012

We stayed at this hotel with my husband during a long weekend in May. It was a good deal for us since most of the other hotels were either too expensive or booked.

We've easily found the hotel with the help of GPS and signs. However, the first experience we've encountered even before checking-in was the entrance to the hotel's garage. It was so narrow and had such high edges ("bordures") that we scratched a wheel while getting in. Later when we tried to get out of the garage it took about 15-20 minutes to do that without scratching. For the rest of the holiday we parked in open public parking 2 minutes away which is free during weekends.

The room was clean and tidy, quite nice - modern design, free wi-fi. Bathroom and toilet were separate which was very convenient. The minuses were very hard and uncomfortable pillows and poor drain in the shower and sink.
Breakfast is ok although not included in the room price, pastries were very fresh and tasty.

In terms of location it was very nice to live by the river, but the rest of the neighbourhood was a bit weird and deserted.
Maybe there were some other little things but overall it was quite good value for money.

This hotel was booked mainly for location and ease of access. It tunred out to be really modern with welcoming staff and a bed that I literally couldn't drag myself out of. The duvet was lovely! It has underground parking too. It was really cheap considering and the staff were really friendly and jolly.

We booked through Booking.com whilst driving up from Clermont-Ferrand arriving in Reims tired and ready for food the hotel was thankfully easy to find.. Parking the car under the hotel we soon found the lift to reception. Check in took for ever including a request for 10E for the carpark which we were not expecting.

Fortunately the restaurant was still open - hooray! We freshened up quickly and made a bee-line for the restaurant, the only free tables were dirty and the others were all occupied by elderly Brits, as one waitress put it rolling her eyes, from le bus! Eventually things calmed and our order from the uninspiring menu was taken. After a short while our food arrived. The only available vegetable was ratatouille which normally would be very acceptable however the ratatouille looked and tasted rather more like dishwater and the portion of fish that was served with it was badly overcooked and measured about three inches by two by an inch thick. The Chateau bottled wine recommended by the waitress was not even worth the appelation "vin du pays" it was little better than paint stripper!

We repaired to bed and to be fair the room was clean and well planned although you had to be a very trim size to squeeze between door and loo! Bed comfortable but road busy, sleep was disturbed by this and noisey "neighbours"

Because of our experience of dinner we didn't take breakfast and proceeded to check out, the bill came to 160E - what a rip off! I compained about dinner and the male receptionist not appreciating that I speak reasonable french, rudely passed me to his female colleague who simply shugged and started to speak to him - not even an apology let alone a reduction in the cost - on checking later we weren't even given the 20% discount on the food bill!

Don't use this hotel, despite it's new name "Centre - Cathedrale" it is a long 0.9 kilometre from the Cathedral square. In addition the food is dire and with the exception of the two waitresses the staff are rude - probably fed up with Les Anglais on tour. However for 160EURO you can find so much better!!

Room Tip: Room 217 has a corner position with of course a corner window - if you like the window open expect s...

I would like to begin by saying that the staff is very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are very clean and spacious. the bathroom has a rainshower and is very comfortable, the toilet is seperate from the bathroom. Breakfast was not included with the booking of our room, nevertheless I would recommend taking the breakfast there (very good value for money).
They have an underground parking garage for only € 10,- per night.
Location is fine, approximately 600m away from the action.
The pictures on the sites are a little bit misleading, you could think this is practically a boutique hotel. This is not the case, they modernized the rooms and it is very nice but no design style!
In conclusion, a very nice hotel with excellent staff. I wouldn't have any problem to visit it again.

Stayed at this hotel very last minute, we booked online about 2 hours in advance. The hotel is great, very clean, stylishly designed.

Pros:
- Great location, a few minutes walk from the town center and cathedrale
- Very clean, well designed, warm (in winter)
- Huge room with separate wc/bathroom
- Free wifi
- Tea and coffee in the room (pretty rare for europe!)
- Great room facitilies (fridge, kettle, tv, couches & coffee table)
- Helpful polite staff
- Very reasonably priced

Cons:
- Breakfast not included in price
