Delightful space in an old stone building that reminded us of old country France. We were so pleased with our meal and the wine the owner chose for us was especially good. The matriarch of the restaurant took care of us and, it turns out, she spent a couple of years at the French Consulate in San Francisco. She loves San Francisco as much as we love France. We went for the prix fixe menu and started the meal with the foie gras trio that was an add on but well worth it. We tried the guinea hen for the main course and is was especially delicious. I am glad the staff at the Hotel Le Haut des Lys recommended this spot because it was so good. It was very quiet and we ate at our own pace. Save room for dessert and some dessert wine! We love to support family run places and L'Etape Gourmande exceeded our expectations and we would love to go back when we visit this area again.
