Want to come back to city because of this hotel

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 18 Jul 2024
If you are visiting Dijon this hotel is a center peace of art and style. From the bar on lobby/ entrance level to guest rooms all decorated in a very stylish and tastefully designed rooms to great service provided by every stuff member we had a pleasure to interact with. The hotel's touch of a personal welcome note in every guest room with a tiny bottle of a welcome amenity- makes it a big difference among other hotels. Bravo to Management team! You all made us feel special and we definitely will be back again. We stayed in 103 / 203 rooms on July 15 for one night only, there was an issue with our reservation did not flow through the system, but front office team offered us complimentary drinks, while resolving this situation, so after a long day driving it was a great solution and we didn't get impacted by this small issue. Great service and great stuff. Next time we will be back for longer stay to enjoy your beautiful hotel and to try your Spa services.

We booked at the very last minute due to our original hotel being awful. The location is great for exploring the centre of Dijon. The car park was confusing at first but actually simple to understand when you got your head around it. The entrance was not clearly marked but the lovely lady on reception was very welcoming and checked us in with no fuss. The room 101 is small and has a quirky design robes and slippers were supplied. a little jar of mustard on the bed as a welcome, well you are in Dijon. The ate out but came back to have a drink in the cocktail bar which was classy. Breakfast was pretty good and plenty of it. Yes it was a bit on the expensive side but we literally booked an hour before we arrived and a Tour De France stage had just finished in Dijon. The decor may not be to everybody's taste but we did not mind. Only downside, and nothing to do with the hotel, was the road works outside made it difficult to access the car park

Disappointing starting from the beginning. Lack of information and signage. Inconvenient parking with no indication on where to go. Front desk either does not know or care to proactively help with information. Hotel delivery on elite status benefits is poor. Breakfast not offered. Marriott’s delivery of benefits for different brands is unreliable and inconsistent. Small room similar to Moxy brand. Public areas are dark. Feels like a train station hotel.

Pauline MACHET, General Manager at Vertigo Hotel & NUXE Spa, responded to this reviewResponded 22 May 2024

Dear Sir,

We thank you for your time in sharing your feelings about your stay at the Vertigo Hotel. We are sorry your stay did not meet your expectations. We have an indoor parking about a 100m behind the hotel, which is very useful in a main city center. We also have 2 spots to park along the hotel entrance to make it easier to unload luggage before parking. The staff is always at your disposal to give you advice on how to park. As Design Hotels, benefits can differ from the ones from a Marriott Hotel. We make a discounted breakfast price at 15€ and you get welcome points, and free upgrade if available.
Our rooms are 18m² or 22m² as described in the rooms description.
We hope to welcome you again so you can experience a better stay.
Best regards.

Based on other reviews we opted for a larger room with two double beds. I am glad we did. The room was comfortable-and having the extra space was nice. It was a lovely hotel-nothing exceptional. If you drive and park in the lot you have to shlep your bag around to find the entrance, which was inconvenient, but not horrible. The staff was nice and very helpful

Everyone knows that the French were never friendly, but I didn't know they were also RUDE!

I have been a MARRIOTT customer for over 30 years and have remained a customer of this chain for over 1,100 nights and have NEVER made any complaints about any hotel, except this VERTIGO HOTEL in Dijon:

1. Initially I had difficulties making the payment through the MARRIOTT system, giving me the impression that they were scammers, as the payment was not confirmed by payment through the Marriott website. I wrote to question this problem and they were skeptical: either you pay through OUR system or I cancel your reservation!

2. Room 410 is tiny, IBIS standard, but with an electric coffee maker! The photos on the Marriott website were manipulated to make the room look big, but it's not!

3. The room had a photo of a nude statue of questionable taste nailed to the ceiling! Simply abominable!

4. The room was dirty, especially the carpets!

5. The price of the stay is too high for the standard offered.

6. My TITANIUM ELITE MARRIOTT status WAS NOT RECOGNIZED FOR THE FIRST TIME!

7. Frustrated with the room, I asked them to give me my money back, but they refused! I understand that the institution must be compensated in case of no-show! But what does French law say when the customer is not satisfied and the product advertising is misleading! The reception attendant said that he did not have the autonomy to return the reservation money and also informed that the manager asked him not to be disturbed - TERRIBLE LEADERSHIP!

8. On the bed there was a ridiculous gift of a 25 gram jar of DIJON mustard (photo attached) which is honestly useless!

9. When checking in, the attendant asked me how my stay had been! Obviously I replied that I had been terrible...so she didn't want to listen to me anymore!

Honestly this stay was an OFFENSE! Marriott should be more careful when inviting partners into its network!

I will never step foot in this hotel again. And I will do everything to ensure that no one else goes there!

Dear Sir,

Firstly, I really want to thank you for taking time to share your feeling about your stay,

We regret that you were disappointed.

However, I am very surprised by the inaccuracy of your comment.
Indeed, my receptionist did not tell you that I asked him not to be disturbed but that I was no longer present at the hotel and that I would be back the next morning.

Room 410 corresponds to the room you booked, a Cocoon room of 18 sqm, area indicated on our website.

On the evening of the 19th, you actually interrupted our receptionist who was talking with customers to complain about your gift.
Your benefits as a Marriott Bonvoy members would which were upgrade, early check in and late check out, are all upon availability and this last October 19, our hotel was fully booked.
Nevertheless, I confirm that you have benefited from welcome points

You may not appreciate room decoration, however, art is subjective.
Also, we are proud to be a member of Design hotels.

We still regret that you were disappointed with your stay and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again with the aim of changing your mind about our establishment.

Best regards

Worst Hotel Ever, avoid at all and every cost.
No valet at check in, one employee at desk, the room had very low ceilings I smashed my head on ceiling, tv is hanging from ceiling makes room even smaller, the shower was so tight you couldn't move. The worst part the room was it is not clean. The blow dryer was dusty, The whole room was filthy dirty. No wash clothes. Coffee maker disgusting.

This is not a clean or comfortable room.

Small rooms, little to no loyalty perks, its filthy dirty, and hotel service is non existent.

Room tip: Avoid, its filthy dirty Staff was not helpful. Never gave is wash clothes.
