We spent four glorious nights in mid September, 2011 at this seaside "home away fro home". Mark and Sylvie Peterson, owners, made us feel like family. They were gracious hosts, helping us plan our daily excursions in the area. This beautiful hotel on the beach overlooks the English Channel. Our room was immaculate with a comfortable bed, private modern bath, flat screen TV, and a delightful terrace overlooking the water. There was direct access to the beach, although we did not swim because it was too cool for us. Only a short walk along the Digue to the Old City. A sumptious breakfast was served in a cheery room overlooking the water. We have never experienced such hospitality.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a terrace facing the water.

We stayed for two nights in October. Although the hotel is on the beach, that was not a factor for us at this time of the year. Our rooms were not large, but adequate and overlooked the street. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Old City. Staff was very helpful about directions and needs.

We stayed for 2 nights, parking is on street, but cars do seem to come and go regularly, both days we were lucky enough to get a space within 100 metres of the hotel within 10 minutes of loitering in the area.
The hotel itself could be described as compact (some might say cramped) but everything is bright and cheerful and in an excellent state of repair. All the room furnishings are to a very high standard.
Breakfast is a little meagre for the money, but everything on offer is perfectly ok.
The staff speak better English than my French, but thats not saying much !!
Ideal location for St Malo, just a 15 minute walk along the promenade to the walled town.

Room Tip: Wonderful sunsets from the beach side rooms

I really liked this hotel. The only reason it is not getting 5 stars is that the room (12 - a "cabine" room with a balcony), although very attractive, was really small for the price. There was a reasonable amount of cupboard space that we could probably have jammed our cases in, but even if we had done that there was still only just space to walk around the bed. The room was next to the lift, but because the bathroom was between the bedroom and the lift noise wasn't a problem.

The location is fantastic - right up against the sea, a great view of the walled city to the west - lovely sunsets - and 15 mins walk to the town. Bed was comfortable and we were woken by the waves breaking against the sea wall. Staff charming, helpful and friendly, and breakfast was plentiful and good quality, served in a nice room overlooking the sea. All in all it had a lovely atmosphere and was nicely decorated throughout. I would definitely go back.

To be fair, I have realised subsequently that if you are booking on line using their website that there is a lot more detailed information on the rooms in the French version (e.g bed size, room size etc.) than the English, which is very abbreviated (for example they do actually describe the room we had as "small", in the French version). Therefore use the French version to choose a room before booking! The hotel would do well to act on this if they can.

Room Tip: Use French version of website rather than English - it has much more detailed room descriptions.

Location, kindness, cleanliness-- in every way a sweet experience. The owner and his staff were on hand for advice and a sense of old-fashioned yet youthful hospitality. I want to return to St. Malo, and part of that desire is the chance to stay again by the sea at the Hotel Beaufort.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the sea.
