“Largest rooms we had in France”
Reviewed 22 July 2010

The desk staff were very helpful and friendly and spoke excellent English. The rooms themselves, while a little dated in their decor, were the largest of any of the hotels that we stayed at in France. The bed was also large and comfortable and there is free wi-fi and air-conditioning in the rooms. We were given a room right beside the lift which concerned us a bit, but actually had no noise or disruption so the rooms must also be well sound-proofed. The hotel is a couple of blocks from a good selection of restaurants and across the road from a large shopping mall.
On the downside, the entrance to the parking is very tight and the parking spaces themselves are very small with hardly any room to manouvre. In fact it was too small and tricky to park our van in it. Also, it is a reasonable distance from the old and interesting part of town – although the prices reflect that. All in all, this hotel was good value for money.

Stayed here while visiting my son who was studying in Rennes. Very nice, clean, hotel but rather boring decor. Reminded me of chain hotels in U.S. such as Hampton Inn. Seemed like a great business hotel but if you are looking to experience the charm of Brittany, I'd check out something else. Staff was satisfactory, but not welcoming. Breakfast was minimal--cold cereal, cold croissants, juice, etc. Not really worth the price. But overall, I would recommend for someone who is in Rennes for business or not looking for charm.

We found the Anne de Bretagne a sufficient hotel for our short stay. The room was comfortable and adequately equipped, the hotel staff friendly, and the breakfast reasonable. There is also good underground parking.

If we were to visit Rennes again then we would definitely consider this hotel. It is centrally located (near to the Colombia shopping centre) and of good value.

We chose this hotel based on TripAdvisor reviews and it was perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. The desk staff were indeed helpful and spoke very good English. The room was large by French standards and well-equipped, e.g., small table and chairs, mini-fridge, cable TV with some international channels. We faced the back which didn't have much of a view but it was quiet. The beds were firm and comfortable and the room was very clean. The breakfast was 9.5 euros so we opted for a nearby cafe instead. Not a bad choice for a 3-star business hotel in a convenient, if not particularly charming, location.

One caveat: Place des Lices and Place St-Anne are lively, but overall, Rennes is covered in graffiti and there are many scruffy-looking hippie-vagabonds roaming the streets with dogs, as well as a fair share of town drunks and beggers lurking about.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Anne de Bretagne. Staff at the hotel were helpful from the moment that we made our booking until the time that we left. Our humble attempts at French were well received but all the staff were able to communicate well in English when our French failed us.

Our room was of a reasonable size and simply furnished but had virtually everything that we needed, all in good working order. The bed was roomy and very comfortable. There were two arm chairs. The bathroom was equiped with a simple spa type bath with a powerful shower located over it. There wasn't a kettle in the room but a good range of hot drinks was swiftly provided in the bar and reception area.

Our room was very quiet, situated at the back of the hotel away from the road. The hotel is in a quieter part of the town, 10 - 15 minutes walk from the station and very close to the centre. There is a particulalry good food market and also a fantastic bread and cake shop just round the corner.

Breakfast is a simple continental buffet. Ours was included in the price. There are also good cafes nearby as an interesting alternative.

We are pleased that we chose this hotel and would happily stay there again.
