As others have pointed out, this is an urban setting, but that was what we wanted. This spotless, friendly place is very close to everything you would like to see in Biarritz. The best part is the team of Patrick and Joanne who run it. Breakfast was also very nice and relaxing.

Room Tip: Room 4 was great.

You cannot fault the welcome of Patrick and Joanne, or cleanliness of this hotel or even its location in Biaritz centre.
However the traffic noise as it is situated on a main road and the noise from the bars and clubs that is continuous till the early hours was too much. We didn't sleep well.
Also parking is a nightmare.
Positive as I have said is location, hosts and breakfast.

We had a great 3 days in Patrick and Joannes place. We stayed in room 3 on the first floor. The photos dont do the place justice. Our room was clean polished, airy and relaxing. The bed was very comfy we had great sleeps here. I would stay here again in a heart beat.

Maison Garnier is a somewhat different option to stay in Biarritz, especially in the summer. It's a small, B&B like hotel in an old charming corner building, with a handful of rooms on three floors. It is run by Patrick and Joanne, a couple with very differing personalities who in their own way make you feel welcome at the Maison. The regime is at times a bit strict, so we would not recommend the place for families with kids. But for those seeking a peaceful stay in a pleasant residential neighborhood, this hotel could be an excellent option.

Our room was nicely furnished, with a large closet area (with safe) near the door, a queen bed, a table with chair, a lounge chair, and a TV. The bathroom was pretty modern, with a spacious walk-in shower and, as an unusual bonus, a balcony! Everything felt right and to-the-point; we felt very comfortable in the room.

The hotel is on Rue Gambetta, a one-lane but busy street leading from the city center to the South of town. So there is traffic from morning to late evening, and sleeping with open windows is not an option. Once you close the windows and shutters though, the outside world cannot be heard anymore. Rue Gambetta and its side streets are full of shops, restaurants and bars, but with a more neighborly feel than closer to the more touristy places downtown. The fish and vegetable market around the corner is a delight, and on Wednesday evenings an outdoor farmers market brings additional vendors and hordes of people. Three beaches are nearby: the Plage du Port Vieux (a calm cove, but small and packed); the Grande Plage in front of the Casino (which felt less tight but was also packed); and the Plage de la Cote Basque (which is mainly for surfers). All are a pleasant 10-minute walk away, in different directions.

Breakfast was quite pricey, at close to €13 per person, and is served in a cosy sun-lit dining room on the first floor. We could substitute eggs for cereal, which convinced us to have breakfast there almost every morning. But the market around the corner and several cafes nearby could be alternatives to consider.

Parking in Biarritz during the summer is a challenge and quite costly. By chance we ended up in an area south of the Ave. de Londres where parking was free; this is not advetised anywhere, as if locals want to keep it a secret. It was just a five-minute walk to the hotel, so very convenient. There are just not too many options to park in Biarritz (free or paid), so it is best to walk and take public transport whenever possible.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony, even if it goes off the bathroom. It just gives the stay a different...
