Two reasons for the 2 star poor rating. One is the lack of decent internet. Hands down, the WORST internet connection we have had in years. If you plan to spend a working holiday in Biarritz (as we had), this is definitely not the hotel for you. The manager or owner simply will not pay for decent internet in this very expensive hotel. We could not pay our bills on line, we had trouble download e-mails, and forget about anything else. We will never use this hotel again. Work and play do not go together here.
The second is the lack of any available parking. You are on your own with this as the hotel does not state up front that it takes no responsibility for helping you get your suitcases anywhere near the hotel. There is no parking at the hotel itself, and the hotel is nicely situated outside of any streets with a large plaza in front of it. The streets you will see on maps you download do not show the fact that many of the streets that would seem to enable you to park near the hotel (and thus more conveniently bring in your suitcases) have gates that are locked, so you can’t enter those streets. There are parking garages nearby, and the ones we found were all full. We spent two hours in the one way system circling the hotel, yet unable to get to it because of the locked gates and the fact that the nearby parking garages were full. The parking garages do not have elevators and the one place we eventually found three flights below ground level meant we had to bring our suitcases up and out by hand, and then roll them through the streets to the hotel. For the fit and hardy only.
Apart from that, the room is spacious and nicely furnished, although the junior suite we got is in fact not a suite, but one large room. Gorgeous view of the ocean. The windows open up so the roar of the waves can be heard and often drown out the screaming children who love to play in the plaza below. This part of Biarritz faces north, so does not get the sunset, but the location can’t be faulted. You can easily walk to the beach or restaurants, etc. If you ride the waves, you can see the condition of the surf very easily.
The ‘desk’ in the junior suite we are in does not have a chair that fits the ‘desk’, as the nice looking sofa chair is well below the desk height and does not function well as an ‘office’ chair. I suppose an office chair might spoil the ambiance, so their decision was to leave that out.
The hotel does not tell you it has towels for the beach when you check in, but it does, so if you choose this hotel, ask for them and they give those out. That is a nice feature. Other pluses include very friendly staff who work hard. Clean rooms, with great housekeeping. Gorgeous view of the Atlantic from our room. The breakfast bar was robust, although we only used it once as we wanted to sample other cafes nearby. The room service was great.

This hotel was a lovely surprise. The location is steps away from the shopping district with ocean views. We are within walking distance to the local attractions. The rooms are split level with sitting area below. Bathroom is large and modern. Would highly recommend this hotel.

It's our third time at the hotel and we spent 5 days taking advantage of the shopping sales, the beautiful weather/beaches and the variety of restaurants and bars. The hotel is a perfect compliment to all Biarritz has to offer.

We had the "plat du jour" which was excellent.
The service was very good too & we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The drinks were reasonable too. I cannot recommend this enough.
Central. Wonderful view. If you don't have "the plat du jour" it's very expensive

Loved the location of this hotel and the room was wonderful, with a glorious view over the grande plage. My only concern was price. Biarritz is expensive but even so, the room itself was a little dear, the meal in the restaurant was very expensive for what it was, the bar was also dear (€3.50 for a small tonic water) and the mini bar also (€7 for a small orange juice). There were some nice touches, such as tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a free bottle of water, but ultimately I couldn't help feeling a little exploited.
