mixed reaction to the cour carree,i don’t want to be too brutal because it isn’t all bad.
what’s good...
the people who run the place are delightful, friendly, cheerful and very helpful.
the situation is great, very central for everything of interest in bordeaux.
less good...
there was a time when french hotels were forgiven everything because they were cheap and cheerful,
now,far too many places have jumped on the boutique hotel bandwagon without understanding what boutique hotels are about.it is more than painting everything dark gray, the facilities must match the prices demanded and sadly this place doesn’t do that.
everything is extra to an already ambitious starting price, parking ( very limited ) breakfast, even soft drinks in the room ( why no tea and coffee making facilities ? )
so,a b and b with the second b as an extra...
no lift...not great for older guests...
no restaurant...breakfast only...
worst thing...by far...
the rooms are SMALL...the first one we saw...described as a beautiful room with a good view was smaller than a phone box with a panoramic view of next door’s roof...
the second one about the size of a phone box....but prettier than the first...
the one we settled for,the third we saw,a deluxe phone box with poor light and an average bathroom,
an over the bath shower with no screen or curtain to keep the water in...
hard to work the reasoning out on that one...
described as minimalist,in fact, the furnishings are a bit cheap and in short supply.
when you are racking up bills of two hundred ‘ish euros per night all in,
( room + breakfast + parking + a cup of coffee )
it should be better than this...a lot better.
so,regretfully i wouldn’t rush to stay here again and can’t recommend that you do,
which is a shame...it could and should be really quite good.

Room Tip: lose weight or check room size cery carefully befiore booking.

We stayed in the triple room with our young child...a great hotel with cozy design elements. Also very quiet and peaceful with a window opening on to the courtyard. Well-situated on a quiet street right next to the city center. Highly recommend!

I stayed 3 nights for a business trip to Bordeaux at the recommendation of a local colleague. It is just my style - small and quaint in the heart of the city. This place is very clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Mary in particular was terrific! I will stay here again only next visit.

Really pretty hotel, very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Attentive and helpful staff, homely with a real touch of class. Bedrooms very clean and comfy. Bathroom lovely too.
Would go there again for sure!

The hotel was exactly what you would want from a boutique hotel. The staff were very friendly, and helpful in providing recommendations and assisting with anything else we needed. Also, the location is really great. We walked everywhere.

My main concern was the noise-level at night was pretty bad. Our room was on the first floor facing the street (called the classic double room), which was clearly the reason for the noise. I think there was a trash truck that was clanking around very early in the morning - it was somewhat comical. My suggestion is if you can't guarantee a different room, stay somewhere else where you'll be able to sleep at night.

Room Tip: First floor room facing the street is loud at night
