This is a cozy Alsatian place with tasty local food like the Choucroute Alsation and Potatoes Gratinee. Very reasonable local wine list. Really nice staff. Beamed ceilings with historical pix and objects adorning the walls. Makes you feel like where you are. Right near the Petite Venise bridges and canals on. Rue Poissoneire.

Tried meat pie, creme brûlée and Kougelhopf Glace. The meat pie was excellent, the desserts too. Kind staff, there is no English menu but the staff is very helpful so You can make the best choice.

I was there with my family (3 persons) and I booked the day before for a sunday evening (very busy period, during the Christmas market).
At the phone the woman wasn’t very nice, or better, she was a little rough and she said that we had to be there maximum 10 minutes late or they give the table to someone else (I think this is normal, but in other places they ask you the phone number and they call you if you’re late, that’s way more elegant).
They have two turns, at 19 and at 21, so if you go at 19 you have to leave before 21.
Once we arrived there we saw that there was a Christmas market special menu, with offers like “2 courses for 27€” or “3 courses for 30€”, which was good.
The problem is that this wasn’t a choice. My girlfried wasn’t feeling very good and she wanted to eat only a starter, but this was not possible.
Anyway, the food was good and the waitress was very very nice (running all the time through the tables).
In the end I just felt that the restaurant is nice and the people is nice and professional, but they care too much about the optimization and they loose a little bit the connection with the people.
I perfectly understand that need, but these rules, the timings and the feeling of rush let you loose a little bit the atmosphere and the pleasure of eating.

We had lunch here... good quality food but the space is limited. Our table was basically in an isle... not good.

We went by the restaurant since it was recommended by Rick Steves as a cozy place to eat near the canal. Only reservation available was 9:00. We were hesitant, but decided to book it. So glad we did! Fabulous meal, and kind service by one of the owners. She explained all the menu options carefully for us as everything was in French. I had delicious pumpkin soup (with a tasty cheese/walnut on toast) for a starter, and the ham bone for dinner. Husband thoroughly enjoyed jus beef and rich potatoes (like scalloped). The creme brûlée was the finishing touch! House wines were delightful too. Great food in this wonderful town!
