I always get a great reception at this hotel and really appreciate their recognition of my Marriott Platinum status. A really characterful hotel with big rooms
and friendly staff, much better than a soulless modern hotel.

Spent one night here and loved the size and character of the room. Thick walls, stone window sills, wooden beamed ceiling - all reminiscent of the old warehouses that have been transformed into this hotel. Offered upgrade to a junior suite for £45, but settled for the standard room we had booked, which was large enough with a good sized bathroom. The view over the river was a reminder of the area's industrial past. Bed was large and comfortable. Special mention of the attentive and pleasant young French lady on reception who checked us in and out.

Only a short walk to Spinningfields and on to Deansgate, with Granada TV studios right across the road. Valet parking at £16 a night or the public, open air NCP next door at £8. Take your pick.

Good hotel. Decent location. Pleasant staff. Recommended.

Stayed here on a Thursday night while having a mini break in Manchester to do some "wedding shopping". Had read on the website that they offered valet parking for £16.00 but as the NCP car park is at the side of the hotel and only charged £8.00 for 24 hrs we decided to use that instead, its an oudoor one and seemed safe enough. On arrival at reception we werwe greeted by a lovely French receptionist who checked us in, was friendly and also asked if we wanted an upgrade for £45.00, As we had other things to budget for we declined but as it happened the double room we had booked was lovely, medium in size lovely comfy bed, tea making facilities [only 2 tea bags and 4 milks but sure if we had been bothered to ask they would have supplied more]. The room was 222 and overlooked the river irwell, coincidentally also it overlooked the remaining church steeple where i was born a street away from and babtised at the same place so was a sentimental view also. The hotel being in an old mill has character and beamed ceilings giving it a warm lived in feel. We got a taxi into town to dine that evening, would have been quick enough to walk but had heels on and it did look like rain!. We did find it very hot overnight and used the air con initially but then just left the window open all night. Breakfast is until 11am which is great for people like us who are slow starters! Had a choice of continental plus the usual eggs, bacon, sausage etc all buffet style, food was fine and plentiful. All in all a great place to stay, We stay over in Manchester quite regular and always try to choose a different hotel, but if the price was reasonable i would not hesitate to use this hotel again.

We've stayed at this hotel on a couple of occasions. It is in a lovely historic building, situated in a great spot in Manchester, within walking distance to all the shops/nightlife, but without being too central.
The parking was valet-service, at £16 per night.
The hotel in general is very clean and well-maintained (although the lift was a bit 'juddery'). The bedrooms have lots of character with authentic wooden beams and brick walls. The bed was very comfortable, plenty of pillows provided. There was also a safe in the wardrobe (easy to use), and 2 robes. The bathroom was large, with a shower over the bath (my other half did have a job stopping water spraying onto the floor, even though there was a shower curtain).
We didn't have the breakfast on this occasion (as we had an early morning flight), but from what I can remember from our previous visit it was very good.
The only problem I encountered was that the windows didn't seem to block the road noise out. Even though we had a river between our room and the road, I could still hear it quite loudly, especially when cars/bikes screeched away from the traffic lights in the early hours of the morning. Saying that, I'm not very good at sleeping in any hotel and my other half slept OK, but he does use earplugs.
Apart from that, I would recommend this hotel as being an ideal base to stay in Manchester.

Once again stayed here on the way home for a journey break. Although a little expensive the rooms, public areas and staff were as welcoming as ever. Tricky shower controls in the bathroom however could present problems. Front desk and concierge very pleasant and welcoming. Break fast both hot and cold, varied, well cooked and tasty. Will be coming back again.
