I stayed here with my partner on Friday 22nd June for one night. The reception/bar area is nicely presented, and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
We stayed in an interior room on the 3rd floor. Unfortunately the room did not have the same standard of cleanliness as the reception area. The bathroom had a very strong smell of urine.
There is no air con, which to be fair to the hotel it had not advertised, however the one desk fan that was provided did not work. We discovered this in the early hours of the morning when the room became unbearably hot, as it was such a late hour we did not contact the hotel staff to complain or request a replacement fan, hence to be fair to the hotel they had not been given a chance to put right the problem. However... given the room has no windows, no air con, it would have been wise for them to have checked the fan actually worked before letting the room out.
The bed was very small for a double, but whilst not the most comfy we have slept on it was neither the most uncomfortable, ok for a one night stay.
The breakfast was good, and service in the breakfast room was very good with once again helpful friendly staff.
Overall, this is a good hotel but could be greatly improved if the standard was followed through in the bedrooms and bathrooms.

Room Tip: Avoid the interiror rooms, that way if its smelly you can at least open a window.

I stayed here on a Sunday night with my partner for 1 night for a concert. I chose this hotel because it was cheap and in the city centre, and it is LITERALLY in the city centre. Perfect location if that is what you're looking for.

However, even though we had a room near the back of the hotel away from the traffic, it was still quite noisy. I think Monday morning must have been glass bottle recycling collection day... The building is also quite old and wonky, so the floors are really squeeky and you can hear people walking in the rooms above and in the hallway.

Otherwise, it was clean and comfortable, cheap and cheerful.

If it weren't for the noise I would stay here again. We usually stay in the city centre Travelodge when we come to Manchester, which is the same price and quieter, so we will likely stay there next time unless it is fully booked, then I would consider the Gardens Hotel again but bring earplugs next time!

I stayed here with my boyfriend (19 & 20) for a music concert/city break, and although the hotel looks nothing on the outside it was so clean and comfortable inside! The interior could do with an update but that didn't bother us as it was clean and the bed was comfy. There was a slight noise coming from outside as we were at the front of the hotel but it wasn't enough to stop you from sleeping. The hotel staff were great friendly and polite, our travel iron broke and I rang reception to see if we could hire one and the receptionists response was that there was an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe! So we were made up as not all hotels have this. Great stay cannot fault it, I shall be staying here again when returning to Manchester.

Stayed here for 4 nights and can't fault it. Good bed clean bathroom. Not at all nice but does for a few nights. Back door entrance literally looks like a crack house but front door is fine. Bar in hotel isn't actually a bar and service off staff is slow and tired!

Stayed here for 2 nights paid £116 which wasn't too bad, 3-4 minute walk from piccadilly station, in between wetherspoons and subway, 2 minute walk into town therefore superb location.

Bedroom was a good size, big comfortable double bed, clean bathroom, fresh towels left outside of our room as we forgot to take the do not disturb sign down, man at reception was lovely and friendly, gave us extra milk for free, didn't mind we were 30mins late checking out on the sunday.

Only concerns were the window hardly opened so the room was quite hot, the tv was very fuzzy and blurry so no point watching it and the hotel could do with a makeover as it is quite old and creaky.

Overall was very pleased and would definitely return if I go back to manchester in the future.
