“First weekend in Manchester”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2012

A Birthday treat from my friend , a weekend in Manchester. We arrived at the Hotel around 5.30 & a very pleasant young man greeted us & was most helpful. Our suite was excellent, large , roomy & clean. The bed was large, comfy & lots of pillows. The bathroom was amazing, large & lots of mirrors, I would love to have it in my own house !! Big flat screen TV with an excellent clear picture. Breakfasts were good, plenty of choice, great oatmeal & crusty bread. Location ideal for excellent restaurants, buses & trams. Lovely friendly Irish girl called Hayley on reception Saturday night & Sunday morning who was very helpful & cheerful. All in all a great first time stay in Manchester !!

Would like to stay there again should I return to Manchester.

We arrived mid afternoon one Friday for a weekend away. We were greeted by some very helpful receptionists' who simply couldn’t do enough. The Suite that we stopped in was amazing, spacious, clean, BIG TV’s and a bathroom you'd dream to have in your own home. I think I could easily spend an hour under the "drench" shower featured in the suites. My ONLY gripe and this is a small one, was the hotels difficulty to ensure the IPOD dock advertised actually works...or for more than 10 mins. It wasn’t till Sunday morning did I realise that the adaptor supplied was actually the wrong voltage and was obviously blowing the docks....I total of three units was brought up to my room over 2 days. To be fair I can’t fault the staff for trying, however a lesson there is not to just use anything that fits.

The Staff where 1st Class and couldn’t help enough to the point where id just left a bar and wasn’t sure where to try next. So for some inspiration I called the reception who kindly directed me to some lovely cocktail bars. Better still the morning after there was unlimited coffee at breakfast to help the lovely hangover that followed.

The bed was soooo comfy, didn’t want to get out of it for breakfast in a morning. The Breakfast was yummy and there was a great choice of Continental "stuff" and the full English was spot on! The first night we ate in at the hotel. The offer was £30 for 2 including 2 courses and a bottle of wine....great value. But for that I didn’t have my expectations set high. But I was blown away with how delicious and well presented it was.

Would recommend to anyone wanting a weekend in Manchester and would recommend spending that little bit more and going for a Suite, especially if you’re stopping more than one night. There's also great saving to be made if you pay in-advance....

The room was very smart , stylish design, comfy beds and pillows . Someone else commented about here only being "one of everything" biscuit, shampoo etc - perhaps because they are initially set up for business singles? I commend the eco friendly efforts but long life bulbs do not give off enough light and impossible to make -up. The black tiled bathroom just soaked up all available light - however I was assured when I made comment at check out that they are aware of the problem and have a programme for replacing bulbs with eco friendly halogens.
Staff are excellent especially receptionists
It was the breakfast price that was the real sting in the tail. £17.50 per person is very naughty and just took the gloss off what was a very pleasant overnight stay

This is a nice enough hotel. Tastefully refurbished, roomy accommodation and bathroom, and lovely staff. However, the price of the breakfast takes the shine off it slightly. I suppose they charge it because a lot of people stay here on business and their employers will pay it. We ate at Piccadilly Station on the way home, £3.99 and perfectly adequate. I'm not being tight; I just find it disappointing.

We couldn't work out how to adjust the heating, which made the room uncomfortably hot.

The staff really are lovely, though.
