We stayed in the hotel last weekend on the Ultimate Gourmet Experience. The second night included Gin Tasting and Dinner in The Bistro.
There wasn’t a lot a detail in the package description so we didn’t really know what to expect. We had booked for 8:30 but we were advised to bring the booking forward as the Gin Tasting could take 1 and a half to 2 hours.
We arrived about 7 O’Clock and The Bistro was busy. We were met by the bar manager and he set us up two stools at the bar. We talked about what we would normally drink and discussed ideas of different gin / accompaniments that we would like to try. G&T is my drink of choice but my husband isn’t normally a gin drinker as not a fan of tonic.
We started with what was described as “Traditional” gin an tonic and then moved on. Some of our favourites were Hendricks with Elderflower Tonic and cucumber, Cotswold gin with water melon, Martin Millers with strawberry and black pepper and Monkey 47 with mixed berries
We enjoyed eight different gin and tonics and a sharing platter of baked Camembert.
The gin tasting was included as part of our package staying at the hotel but you could book just the gin tasting which I would definitely recommend.
We then had dinner in The Bistro. Our package included a £35 credit to per person. I had the. Cured meat platter and Mussels - both were delicious. We couldn’t manage a dessert and opted to have a coffee instead. The only slight criticism was that we couldn’t have the coffee wasn’t taken out of our I used credit and we had to pay for it.
It was a fantastic evening, which I haven’t stopped telling people about since we got back.
