This is the second Wetherspoon that I have stayed in and I am still impressed. They have far more soul than a Travel Lodge/Premier Inn and will be my first choice in the future. Its not without some irritations. There was no parking and I was advised to go to a nearby NCP. Their map shows its location but not where the hotel is or its road hence I found myself going around and around Doncaster town centre and its many one way streets trying to put names to the map.. When eventually found the NCP conditions for parking were onerous and if I got it wrong punitive, . To get the hotel discount I was expected to phone or tap in a number. Not all of us carry Smart phones. All too difficulty after a long day's drive so I left it on the street and made sure we were out of the hotel early. Another irritation was the ensuite wash basin , it was too narrow and too shallow hence turning on its tap too quickly meant being sprayed. And the last one was the soap/hair containers fastened to the wall needed two hands to operate. Other than that the bedroom could have also been bigger but it had been recently refurbished in a contemporary style; there were tea/coffee making facilities in abundance, free bottled water, tasty shortbreads, air conditioning that worked but it did make an occasional gurgling noise, a useful Samsung flat screen tv with plenty of channels , free wifi, iron and ironing board, hair drier, desk and two sitting out chairs. Beds were very comfortable, quality linen and the room clean. Staff were pleasant. And of course the bar had an eclectic range of real ales.

Fantastic stay. The room was clean and tastefully decorated. Overall good stay, the only downside was the room was in the small side but for a single nights stay it was fine. The bathroom was fantastic and the shower amazing!!

The pub itself has had a great renovation. Would definitly visit / stay again.

Was really surprised how big and beautiful the room was for the little price I paid. Exceeded expectations, check in was nice and easy. Considering the room was facing the front of the pub it was so quiet. Had such a good nights sleep. Would recommend to everybody and will be coming back again :)

Lunch time in Doncaster so I tried a different Wetherspoon converted pub. It was a good choice. The staff smiled and were helpful. My fish 'n chips was their usual high standard and my wife enjoyed her scampi. Food came quickly, was piping hot and well cooked. I will use again. Be aware that you need to park before finding the Red Lion.

Room Tip: Park before finding the pub.

Nice clean hotel. Would stay again. Idea for a visit to Doncaster. Walking distance from the town centre. Only problem was parking. Had to use local authority car park. Pay and display points confusing.
