Owner description: DZG is unique… a home to more than 1300 animals, and has nigh on 200 species, including some of the rarest creatures on Planet Earth. Hundreds of exotic and endangered animals inhabit an ancient wooded hillside, with a rich geological history, around the ruins of the 11th century Dudley Castle and share a site with the world’s largest single collection of Modernist Tecton structures – and the country’s only vintage chairlift!

There is so much to see! Historic castle, wonderful animals and a historic set of zoo buildings. There is obviously developments going on and the staff seem dedicated and proud of the zoo. Rightly so. The lemur walk was very impressive with a real chance to get close to the animals.

This place is somewhere I visited as a child and it was great. went back as an adult to find it had gone downhill and looked tired. Money now being spent and it looks like it is coming back to it's old self. Chair lift to be working in 2012. Staff very friendly. Kids loved it.

I have visited the zoo many times, never been dissapointed. Its a huge zoo full of lots of beautiful animals, and the tour guide has set times so you can watch the animals be fed and even learn a thing or too. Fun day out, shops/ food prices are reasonable.
Definitely recommend if you are looking for a day out with the family.

Although I am not a great fan of Zoos my grandchildren were keen to go. I was very pleasantly surprised. The animals all seem very well looked after and have plenty of room and stimulation. It is in a verypleasant location and we also enjoyed looking round the Castle
