Stayed here a year ago and it was fabulous, this time it was absolutely awful.
Arrived after a 4 hour drive to be told there was no food available due to shortage of staff so had to go out for dinner. Room acceptable but nothing to get too excited about. Breakfast was very poor compared to previous visit.
Staff seemed very disinterested and not really bothered about anything.
Very expensive now for an experience they are not delivering.

Me and my grandma went on a 2 day caledonian break, Room 5 was a lovely room downstairs which we requested as we are both disabled. The heating in our room didn't work so we told the staff on reception which they gave us a plug in heater. The main fault was that dinner was at 7 but was a set menu. We didn't like the tomato soup and by the time everyone had had starters it was 8pm which is supper time. Well we asked for the chicken without the peppercorn sauce as neither of us like pepper. We was sat near the kitchen yet was almost last to be served. The chicken was lovely and the potato was but the veg was like bullets. Was far too crunchy. Ok if your bugs bunny and was cold. I am gluten free so couldn't have the cheese cake so they brought me out a big slice of choc fudge cake that was very nice. Next morning breakfast was a self service and was all cold. Won't be returning in the future.

We stayed for 3 nights and everything was good, place was nice and clean, room was big, carpark was right in front of the Hotel and free, breakfast was nice - we would happily stay there again. The only not so nice thing was the room doors are very noisy so if people next door come in late it could wake you up but unfortunately that is the issue of most hotels.

Really nice spacious room with comfortable bed so I had a lovely night's sleep. Bathroom was modern with a great shower. Unfortunately the wifi was so bad that it was unusable even for browsing. The choice at breakfast was also very poor (corn flakes, special k and weetabix were only cereals, apples only fruit, generally very little choice) - disappointing for a HI Express.

Stayed at this hotel during a calendonian trip. On arrival, check in was quick and easy and the room was nice, clean and spacious. We went down to the bar and ordered some drinks whilst we waited for tea. Considering the website states they have a bar showing sport, they couldn't get the football channel on to watch the FA Cup. £10 for 2 pints of lager which is expensive. We made our way to the restaurant where our starters were already laid out for us to collect. Our mains were in dishes where we just helped ourselves. The only options were chicken breast, potato and veg with a peppercorn sauce. Vegetarian option looked like mushroom pasta. No issues with getting our food but when the people towards the end of the queue got to the front, no food left!! There was also issues with no plates and cutlery left too. Dessert was then brought out on a trolley which looked like it still had last weeks food splattered all over it. The desserts were put on the top for us to collect ourselves. Again, some people couldn't have any as there was none left. Calendonian had told the hotel how many to cater for but there was still these issues. Another issue was that the bar was due to close at 11pm due to COVID!! Anyway, we thought ahead and pre ordered some bottles (draught beers not allowed) 4 bottles of Bud for £19.00!!!! Everyone else on the bus hadn't thought ahead so they couldn't get a drink. Even the bus driver wanted a pint after a long day's drive and they wouldn't serve him. After 11pm, we noticed the staff being poured a pint from the pump. We were told this was allowed as they were staff, we argued that as paying guests, we should also be allowed to purchase a drink. We didn't see any issue with this. The child who was the night receptionist was only 17 years old. How he would have dealt with a gang of drunken men coming in if it happened, I do not know. Calendonian should not use this hotel again and I can safely say I won't be back thank god x
