The drive up to the Riverside Barn was very pleasant. The surrounding area was stunning and even though the roads were quite narrow, it was still a pleasure to drive around. Jake promptly greeted us outside and was very friendly, informative and hospitable. Our first reaction to the room was a jaw drop; it seemed very grand. There were lots of lovely touches like the fresh local grown fruit for us to eat; locally sourced fresh milk and orange juice; complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits and finally, a delightful array of cakes and sandwiches. We were offered a breakfast with lots of variety on there including the option to bake fresh croissants in our guest house oven! The room itself was generally clean. The bed was clean and very Victorian in appearance. We had everything from kettle to fridge to Xbox and for once, the SKY TV signal worked! If I could make one negative comment, it would be that there didn't seem like much to do locally and we had to drive into Blackburn and Preston ( yes, it was that bad) to find something to do. If anyone knows of something to do locally in Ribchester, please let us know. The Roman bath was nothing to boast about too to be honest. Thank you to Jake for offering us the vegetarian option as our diet is halal.

Room Tip: Great views. Great interior decor. Great hospitality. Free parking right outside.

We had never been to Ribchester before and when we saw Riverside Barn advertised for overnight accommodation we booked in for two nights. We were shown to our room on arrival, by Jake who not only took pride in showing us where everything was within our room, but the view from the patio garden area (the beautiful Ribble Valley and its meandering river) to giving us details of local places of interest and eateries. The bed which was a four poster was so comfortable and the room itself had plenty to offer if you wished to be totally self catering. We opted for the first morning for the continental breakfast, which for us was sufficient and at £5 per head you could not complain. Delivered in a lovely wicker basket containing all that we had ordered including a teapot and coffee pot, condiments and cutlery etc beautifully presented. Bottled Water and fresh milk where to be found in the fridge each evening on our return from our sightseeing! We will be returning to Riverside Barn again and may hopefully have the chance to stay a little longer than just the two nights next time. Excellent and thanks to Jake for all his help in making our stay a good one.

We arrived and checked in the room to find it did not relate to the photos on the brochure. It smelt awful, was dusty and musty and even the apples left on the side needed a polish. We did not unpack but left and stayed in an alternative hotel. When we tried to cancel the further 2 days booked for our parents we were then informed there was a no refund policy. Thanks the whole experience has cost £450+ and a whole waste of time, no buyer protection and the place is awful! Adrian.

Where to begin with this experience... Living social and Riverside Barn failed to notify before purchasing the deal that a booking couldn't be changed. Although not giving such information may not be breaking any consumer laws, surely it is good business to give these details in advance of purchase. It would save a heap of trouble trying to refund the voucher. Who has a life where everything can be set in stone?? I was told that the business is too small to change bookings, though it would have been much easier to do so than deal with the numerous emails and phone calls about the cancellation. I asked for a copy of their complaints procedure several times, which every business should have to hand, however it has failed to show. They offered me a 'Free' night whilst keeping the £129 I had paid for a 2 night stay.
The place itself was ok, we were assured of refreshments when we arrived, though the room next to us had lovely cake set out for them, we unfortunately got nothing.
Our room had a patio area, as we arrived on a lovely afternoon, we had expected to be able to sit out and enjoy the view and late afternoon sun. The patio furniture was pushed into a corner with green algae stains and no cushions.
I would suggest the front of house staff be encouraged to inform guests with some enthusiasm about the area and have better knowledge of the restaurants catering for vegetarian diets.
I paid £129 for one night, which was grossly over priced for what we got. No breakfast included, not even a custard cream with the tea + coffee tray!!
I felt that the management of the property had utter contempt for us as users of a voucher deal. In reality, I paid hotel prices for a B+B.

Room Tip: Riverside Barn overlooks the river.

Came to riverside barn as a couple for 2 night stay. The barn and room is incredible, we stayed in the rubble suite that has a gorgeous 4 poster bed and sofas to sit on. Television had sky tv with sky movies which is a nice bonus to come across! Kyle was lovely and welcoming, we also met some of the other owners who were grateful to have us stay and were very lovely.
The breakfast was great with fresh milk and literally anything else you would need! But by far the best part was probably heated bathroom floor!
We had a great stay in Preston and the barn is truly a 5 star stay!
Thank you for having us!

Room Tip: you can park literally outside your room!
