A large grassed area with a stream running through the middle. A secure childrens play area completes the scene.

Elmdon Park lies a few mins by car from Birmingham International Airport, and a few mins from the busy Coventry Road. But you could be unaware of both. With its wonderfull nature reserve, lovely lakes and hidden walkways, it truly is a haven away from City life. Of a Sunday the Church serves teas to complete your day there. It is a special place for my partner and myself. And will be always. Martyn

Solihull's town motto is "Urbs in Rure" (The town in the country) .. I'd describe Elmdon Park as the Country in the town ! It is a big tranquil open space , an oasis in the urban sprawl. There are lakes to walk round with ducks and swans to feed if the mood takes you. You have woods to stroll through and gentle hills to ramble on in summer ( or sledge down in winter!). At the bottom of the hill there is a childrens play area and some tennis courts .. walk up the hill via the beacon and past the massive very old trees and you will find St Nicholas church, a fascinating old place which serves tea and cakes on summer sundays.. There is also a large nature park here with views out over the airport , great for the kids to spot planes from . Stroll 400 yards down the lane in the other direction from the church and you will find the nature reserve, essentially an abandoned walled garden that is being managed and conserved to encourage wildlife with ponds and woodland habitats. All in all a lovely place to visit for a couple of hours. And of course it is all free ! I've lived in Solihull all my life and have always loved this park .
