Owner description: Thrift Farm is a 52 acre farm and is a Rural Training Centre/working environment for Adults with Learning Difficulties. Approximately thirty trainees attend the farm each day. Places are also provided for students from Special schools and other local establishments. The trainees work on the farm with the help and guidance of a small, experienced staff team. We have a good selection of farm animals - cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, pony, donkeys, chickens, ducks, geese, rhea and turkeys. We have a hatchery with various small animals - chicks, ducklings and guinea pigs and rabbits. There is also an aviary with budgies and cockatiels. On the Animal Park is also a play and picnic area. Please feel free to bring a picnic with you. We also sell some animals - guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, pigs and goats. Thrift is a small farm most suitable for younger children and has a cafe with a children's menu at reasonable prices. At our cafe you can have a lovely homemade lunch and cake. There is a play house and tractors for children to play with. You can purchase at our Gift shop children's books, gifts, toys, homemade jams, free range eggs (chicken, duck, geese, quail and turkey) and also buy hatching eggs and more. We have a Garden Centre producing a variety of shrubs, perennial and bedding plants, herbs and hanging baskets. A small shop sells planters, wind chimes, seeds and other horticultural sundries. At 11am there is a Story Time every first Sunday of the month. The cost is £4 per child including lunch box ( it does not include entrance to the farm). We organise children's parties.

ambience and setting are beautiful. Food is very fresh and well cooked. We have only discovered this place recently and go regularly either for breakfast or lunch

We popped in for a quick stop one rainy afternoon .

The cafe is clean and a good size . Serving home made food .
The drinks were disappointing as the coffees came out half way down the cup and the kids drinks were not even 250mls
Price is reasonable and staff are friendly though you might have to wait a while for your order

The farm is extremely disappointing - the prices have more than doubled in the last few years . With no improvements to the facility’s.

It used to cost less to get in so didn’t mind finishing after 30-40mins . Now I feel robbed

They could do with a little play park or more features

Thank you for your feedback. We are really sorry to hear you were disappointed with your visit to the Farm. We are a small working farm that offers work-based support to adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues and we try our hardest to ensure customers visiting the farm have an enjoyable experience too.
We believe our admission charges offer excellent value for money and I can confirm our peak pricing structure has remained unchanged since 2015. We will pass on your feedback to the Café regarding your comments about the drinks and the length of time you waited for your food.
We agree with your feedback about additional play areas and equipment and are looking at options for these, however due to our limited budget, this hasn’t been something we have been able to invest in.
We always welcome feedback to help us improve on what we do, if you would like to give us another go, please do pop by the Office and have a chat with a member of the team, who will be happy to talk to you to help ensure you have an enjoyable visit.

Been coming here for several years, lovely little working farm where they support and employ Adults with learning difficulties.
Great reasonably priced little farm with fab cafe/restaurant.
There’s paddocks to walk around to see sheep, ponies, pigs etc
Great place to visit in the Spring, we’ve seen a few Lambs born which is magical
Highly recommended for all ages.

Thank you, we really appreciate your positive feedback and great to hear you enjoyed your visit to the farm.

We are very proud to offer great value to families, and are also very proud of the work we do supporting adults with mental health problems and learning difficulties. We aim to ensure that every visitor has the best possible experience whilst visiting the Farm, so it was good to hear that you enjoyed seeing the animals and visited the Café.

We look forward to seeing you at our Lambing Event on Saturday 7th April.

Thank you.
