The hotel is 2 minutes walk from arrivals, it's a very 'international hotel experience' with clean rooms and facilities. It's primarily geared to the business traveller: there is an oriental type eatery and one or two brasserie type restaurants. Prices are high for families (2 courses circa £23), so we didn't eat there at dinner. if you pre book breakfast it's about £10 per adult, children half price. We did, and the breakfast was good.

Some minor niggles. The sign-age in the lobby could be improved (Columbus discovered the new world more easily than I could find the toilets). At breakfast cutlery needs to be replaced, or accessible at the buffet after the cooked portion. Additionally coffee is poured 'by the cup' - this requires more attentiveness from the servers than we received for refills.

Overall good and would certainly stay there again.

The great advantage of the Sofitel is location. It is right at the North Terminal.

Sadly, for so many airport hotels there is often something lacking - at the Sofitel it was service. More indifference than rudeness, more "casual" that "attentive". We saw it at check in, at the restaurant and it was only on departure did we have a good service experience.

The rooms are comfortable, average in size and for "plane spotters" offer great views. As we arrived later in the evening our key priority was a restful nights sleep - that we did have.

We enjoyed the buffet breakfast, once we got past the slowness of seating and service of beverages and replacement cultery.

Price value wise - again no bargain. But you pay for convenience and location and in this respect the Sofitel delivers.

We stayed in this hotel for one night before an early morning flight. The hotel has good facilities - several bars and restaurants, gym etc.
Rooms are relatively spacious for an airport hotel.
The best thing about the hotel is its walkway through to the north terminal at Gatwick, which is also close to the connection to south terminal. It onlt takes a few minutes to get from your room to the airport terminal entrance.
We used a park and greet service (booked through holiday extras) which was very good as well.
Recommended.

We have stayed here twice, if you are flying from the North Terminal at Gatwick there is nothing better.

For our first stay last year we had an inside facing room and our daughter had her own bed, this time around our room was outward facing and our daughter had a sofa bed, although it seemed comfortable.

Unfortunately the room we had faced the monorail and wasn't far from the runway so noise was an issue despite multiple layers of glazing. It took a long while for our daughter to drop off and quite frankly myself and my wife had an awful night's sleep due to the noise.

Rooms are comfortable and staff were friendly, we used a valet parking service and dropped the car off right outside which was very convenient.

I would recommend the Sofitel as if you have an early flight it is perfect but I would stress that the inward facing rooms are far quieter.

Room Tip: Ask for an inward facing room!
