This is a country pub with courtyard rooms. These are quiet and comfortable - it is quite basic, but clean and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was great. I joined friend for a meal in the evening, which was ok. I’d definitely go back as it was much nicer than the blandness of a cheap hotel chain.

Rooms in a courtyard overlooking beer garden but quiet enough.Train line nearby but it did nt bother us.Very welcoming hosts and food great.Good value for money and will go back.Room spacious as was bathroom, benefited from a ceiling fan in room which was needed in this hot weather.

We had a very nice meal with friends. The prices were very fair and a good varied menu.
The staff were friendly and made sure we had a good evening. Main menu plus a vegetarian board and a specials board so plenty to choose from

Visited the Carpenters arms for the first time.... and our last.
We was a party of 3 and we ordered 1 warm chicken salad. 1 bacon mushroom baguette. 1 hunters chicken.

There was 4 tables of people seated 2 of which was currently eating,1 received there food as we sat down, and the other just got there starters. Its very clear from the simple order we gave them that the kitchen is incapable of dealing with multiple orders.
Even after waiting 40 minutes, the table that had there starters got there mains still before us.
We have no real idea how much longer the food would of taken beyond the 40 minutes as we got up and left after being told our food is 1 minute off and it still didn’t turn up 10 minutes later. And this was on a quiet Monday afternoon.....

Other points to add...
I was given a glass with a lipstick mark on the edge.
And a man was smoking near the doorway entrance blowing his smoke into the restaurant.....

We drove to Frankie & Bennys and got our food in less than 15 minutes and they had ONE CHEF !!!! With 11 tables dining !

Returned to The Carpenters Arms, after a lovely lunch in May 18. We booked in advance for large family meal and were hoping for a similar experience. 30 minutes after placing our order we were told they had run out of chicken, we were offered an alternative meat or fish option, but choose to have chicken and agreed this meal would take 10 minutes longer than the other 7 mains whilst they went to the shop to buy more chicken. I’m not sure why it took 30 mins to discover this. By this point we had already been there 45 minutes.

All mains came out at the same time which was 1 hour and 15 minutes after we arrived. Disappointingly the steaks weren’t great either, one was so full of gristle only half was edible. No one checked how our meals were, either during the meal or when paying the bill. Had they asked we would have shared our feedback.

We were hoping this would become a regular place for us to visit, sadly we will not be returning. Which is a shame as there aren’t many dog friendly pubs that serve food.

Your radio ad got us to there but the service tonight means we won’t be back.
