Lovely pub and still run very well considering everything that's going on and has been said about the pub and owners itself. A Young lady with bright orange/red hair think her name was amy was so helpful and such a lovely young lady, never met anyone with as much respect for punters like her! She made me and my whole family smile, recommeded the kings for somewhere to stay in the future and recommend their food so we had some nibbles of the takeaway menu and thay was delightful! She also works at the plough and has mentioned their quiz nights and processco nightd which I will be attending. Amy made my experience 10/10.. I hope her boss is very proud as I know she hasnt worked there long at all! Thank you to Amy and the chefs. I will be returning shortly

Attended a christening in the upstairs function room. Bar staff welcoming and friendly. Buffet was excellent.
Room was too hot, as air con was a bit ineffective, but not a game changer.
Only real complaint was the real ale was warm and didn't taste good at all. Tried a couple of different beers from upper and lower bar, but both as bad as each other!! Arkells! Not for me!

Looking for a place to meet up with some old friends over from America, who used to live in Swindon we decided to meet up at one of our old haunts, the “Kings”.
All was well to start with until, at 9.15, we were told we all had to move as staff had to clear the table and chairs away from where we were sitting. As there were a few of us we asked where we could go and were told “outside”. We checked this out and because it was blowing a gale decided against it. Weirdly, there was nowhere else in the hotel/bar of it’s size that could accommodate us so we left and spent our money elsewhere. Had we been told on arrival that we would be moved from our seats by 9.30 we could have decided then to go elsewhere to start with. Perhaps the staff are told to “take the money” and drop this on customers later.

Worst customer service Ive experienced in a long time. 4 confused staff at the bar with no clear management. Served the incorrect beer, warm white wine. Incorrectly charged for our meal and the staff member Lucy, stated that I had not ordered the right meal and implied it was all my fault! After eye rolling she agreed to change it but continued to argue the bill with us .... that a £16.95 three course meal and £10 fish special should total £29.95..... After continuing to argue with us we gave up and asked for a full refund which was given with considerable distaste. I would not have given much though to this error had it not been to rudeness of the staff members. To add insult as we left the staff were all bickering away in the kitchen as we walked away. The management need to get a grip of their employees and fast!

We enjoyed a lovely meal at Fez further down Wood St. The service was exemplary in comparison.

Great pub with excellent choice of beers. Location in old town great, lots to do in a small area. Music on Fridays so don't be too disappointed if you have to move tables
Did mot stay the night but a great bar
