“Spacious and flexible accommodation”
Reviewed 11 April 2018 for a stay in April 2018

An old but updated farmhouse with very spacious rooms and lots of options on sleeping arrangements as many rooms have an extra day bed. We took the house for an extended family get together. Though not every room had its own bathroom there was one per every two rooms and a loo downstairs so everyone seemed happy with this. I have to say that our double bed upstairs on the 3rd floor was quite saggy making two people roll to the middle though other people didn't mention this problem. I would definitely prefer a better bed. Loads of towels available from the cupboard to help oneself. The sitting room stove worked brilliantly and it was nice to have the area to the side as a separate TV space so those who wished to watch or play games didn't impinge too much on everyone else. Great garden plus paddock area with plenty of space for games with children and dogs. Very useful utility room with washing and drying machine and a big chest freezer which we used for our dog's food as he is fed raw and room for wellies and wet gear. Games room is rather grand concept for a barn with a table tennis table which unfortunately had a broken net. A few extra bits of equipment would be nice in times of bad weather. It was very wet when we stayed and the surrounding ditches filled with water. Also the Thames path would be lovely in summer when dry but was restricted due to flooding. Do take wellies to be prepared. A visitors book with comments and suggestions as to places to visit would be good. We went to the railway museum in Swindon which was interesting and not only for steam enthusiasts and had a lovely walk at Uffington round the "castle" (old iron age fort) and to see the White Horse. Also had fun boating at the Cotswold water park and visited the wildlife trust Lower Moor Farm. All recommended.

“Perfect family house”
Reviewed 1 November 2016 for a stay in October 2016

My sister rented this property for her husbands surprise 50th birthday. It was perfect for us with children as most of the rooms had a double and 1 or 2 singles. One ground floor bedroom with en suite suitable for guests unable to manage the stairs. The children had a ball. Safe gated driveway, and large, secure garden with plenty of space to rampage and build dens etc. Would be fabulous in the summer using the large BBQ area. The local area was tranquil with pretty walks. My daughter said it was the best hide and seek house she has ever seen!!
Main dining room comfortably sat 12 adults, but we did manage to squeeze 18 in using high chairs and a small table borrowed from another room.
Plenty of crockery, cutlery and glasses etc to go round. I did manage to cook a roast for all 18 guests, but the oven was not massive, and the aga was beautiful, but much slower, so allow plenty of time to roast the joint!
The beds were comfortable and the linen very clean indeed...in fact the whole house was spotless. There were no en suites as such although we did manage to allocate a bathroom to the birthday boy for their exclusive use...i think there were 4 bathrooms altogether.
Before we arrived, I had read a review which suggested that the place wasn't worthy of its 5 star rating, but i would have to disagree. Yes the linen looked as if it was laundered by an external laundry company and wasn't Harrods best, but the sheets were beautifully clean and pressed. Much of the furniture, drawers, bedside tables etc were Ikea, but were all very fit for purpose. The rooms on the first floor were very spacious with high ceilings and rooms on the second floor were up in the rafters, beamed and painted a gorgeous Farrow and Ball 'plaster' colour. The log burner in the lounge roared and the fridges were capacious enough to hold out fizz...and yes, there were champagne flutes.
lovely!

“A lovely place to stay”
Reviewed 28 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We had a lovely time staying at this farmhouse that was able to hold 14 of us. The area was very peaceful and quiet but it was easy to get to the main Cotswolds attractions. Yew Tree was very comfortable and it was amazing to see the star light sky at night. The service from the letting company was friendly and efficient. We had a great time and would love to go back.

“Fabulous venue for a group retreat”
Reviewed 17 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

My team rented Yew Tree Farmhouse for a 3 day retreat this June.
The Farmhouse is situated in a quiet village near the Thames.
The house and grounds are beautiful.

The house was extremely clean and had everything needed to comfortably host a group of 14-17 people. We had our food delivered on the first day, had meetings in the front room, cooked for one another in the large kitchen and finished every evening with a drink in the garden followed by a banquet in the dining room. We also took time off to walk along the riverside paths to one of the nearby pubs, and got a cab back.

There were 14 of us but there was ample room and individual beds for 17.
In summary, we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend it for groups of 14-17.

I should add that Megan at Penny & Sinclair was a great help and responded very quickly to all queries.
