A truly special place offering so much more than just a bed for the night.

The food is superb with a seasonal menu using organic produce and breakfasts which will set you up for the day! The bedrooms are immaculate and beautifully themed with all the facilities you need (a personal favourite are the devine smelling toiletries) but what makes it a truly special experience are the fantastic members of staff who go above and beyond for their customers. Tim even obliged to a pretty early morning start to show me around the farm.

This review alone cannot measure the love I have for this little gem as it is beyond excellent.

Thank you Helen Browning's Royal Oak for being my home when I'm in Swindon!

We have just spent 3 brilliant nights at the Royal Oak - our room was fabulous, loved the furnishings, toiletries and of course the bath!! The option to use the communal lounge was ace (and again furnished to a very high standard). Loved the pub - the available ales were spot on, the atmosphere friendly and cosy and the ability to have our dog with us at all times was great... Breakfast was a relaxed affair with tasty ingredients from Helen's farm and kept us going for our walks around the beautiful local countryside. Dinner all three nights was superb, couldn't fault them at all and the service was efficient... All the staff made us feel extremely welcome (special shout out to Valerio, Frank, Tim, Sam and Sarah) and we genuinely didn't want to leave on Monday!! So pleased we found this absolute gem and will without a doubt be back (possibly for the pig racing!!)

We are a group with high standards looking for a place to spend 24 hours 2 or 3 times a year, with high quality food, a relaxed atmosphere and a friendly welcome. We have tried many places around the M4 corridor over the last 5 years, but have never found anywhere that ticked enough of our boxes; until now. The Royal Oak will now be our base - the perfect combination of lovely rooms, perfectly furnished and finished; great food that is both indulgent and wholesome and most importantly a friendly, laid back welcome that gives us the signal to relax.

A quick run or walk up to the Ridgeway is a real bonus and to be in and around the ethos of the farm and its environment is wonderful.

Highly recommended!

This place made me happy. Wonderful warm and welcoming staff who can't do enough to help. The food is simple & fabulous - mostly organic too. Situated in the village of Bishopstone in the middle of Helen Browning's organic farm you can spend the whole weekend mooching between your room, pub and walks around the farm/village. Stunning rooms that made me feel very relaxed and content; I slept really well on a beautiful bed. This isn't a run of the mill hotel ...it has a quirky, slightly eccentric, cheeky appeal . Apparently they have pig racing and a mini pigstock festival later in the year - I'm coming back!

Room tip: The Wallow is a lovely place to relax away from your room

Next to the recently refurbished Royal Oak at Bishopstone. The beautiful room was brand new, individually designed and inspired by the farm. A fabulous nights sleep in the Hypnos bed. Can't fault the warm welcome and the peaceful rural surrounding. Took the opportunity to eat at the Royal Oak and enjoyed a delicious organic, freshly cooked meal. The toiletries are organic and there is a really nice communal refreshments area in hotel. Would highly recommend, a great gateway to the Cotswolds and the Ridgeway walk is just on your doorstep too.
