unfortunately the night we stayed, the hotel was taking on an influx of guests from another hotel that had encountered hot water problems and was dispatching its guests to local hotels for the night. this meant that the Hallmark staff were overun with guests and basically couldnt cope with the unexpected numbers arriving. although it was good of the hallmark to take on these guests, it really shouldnt have been done to the detriment of guests who had chosen hallmark as their first choice hotel. we queued at check in but that wasnt too bad. it was dinner that was a joke and breakfast time too. at dinner we waited an hour for our starter to arrive from the time we gave our initial order. we also had to ask three times for our bottle of wine and water! breakfast was the same. i would dearly have loved a second cup of coffee, but i wasnt offered and i darent have asked as the one poor waitress that i could see was rushed off her feet trying to seat guests, take their orders as well as clear tables! the other three waitresses that were there when we arrived seemed to disappear into thin air leaving this other lady on her own apart from a young suited gentlemen who kept disappearing back and fore to the kitchen to top up the beans !! there was one heck of a qeue at the breakfast buffet and some guests were a little disgruntled. the hotel has had a revamp and is quite nice but our bathroom shower was a joke. it was so cheap and nasty and kept sliding down its stand . try washing your hair crouching in sync with a sliding shower head! quite fun! also the noise outside our room was horrendous! heating pipes or something clanking all the time. not good! staff were all friendly but i feel that there is an air of professionalism that really is missing. waitress shouting over to us (while hubs on business telephone call at breakfast) asking had the guests on the next table 'gone'? as they hadnt drunk their tea!?' we stayed at the hotel as husband was using one of the function rooms to make a staff presenation and the staff were helpful with regards to this especially eastern european girl at reception.prob would stay again but not if it is busy ;O)
