“not a good stay but not a bad stay just a bit erm 'Falty Towers'!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2012

unfortunately the night we stayed, the hotel was taking on an influx of guests from another hotel that had encountered hot water problems and was dispatching its guests to local hotels for the night. this meant that the Hallmark staff were overun with guests and basically couldnt cope with the unexpected numbers arriving. although it was good of the hallmark to take on these guests, it really shouldnt have been done to the detriment of guests who had chosen hallmark as their first choice hotel. we queued at check in but that wasnt too bad. it was dinner that was a joke and breakfast time too. at dinner we waited an hour for our starter to arrive from the time we gave our initial order. we also had to ask three times for our bottle of wine and water! breakfast was the same. i would dearly have loved a second cup of coffee, but i wasnt offered and i darent have asked as the one poor waitress that i could see was rushed off her feet trying to seat guests, take their orders as well as clear tables! the other three waitresses that were there when we arrived seemed to disappear into thin air leaving this other lady on her own apart from a young suited gentlemen who kept disappearing back and fore to the kitchen to top up the beans !! there was one heck of a qeue at the breakfast buffet and some guests were a little disgruntled. the hotel has had a revamp and is quite nice but our bathroom shower was a joke. it was so cheap and nasty and kept sliding down its stand . try washing your hair crouching in sync with a sliding shower head! quite fun! also the noise outside our room was horrendous! heating pipes or something clanking all the time. not good! staff were all friendly but i feel that there is an air of professionalism that really is missing. waitress shouting over to us (while hubs on business telephone call at breakfast) asking had the guests on the next table 'gone'? as they hadnt drunk their tea!?' we stayed at the hotel as husband was using one of the function rooms to make a staff presenation and the staff were helpful with regards to this especially eastern european girl at reception.prob would stay again but not if it is busy ;O)

Room Tip: ask for one with no clanking heating pipes outside!

Thank you for your comments. I apologise that service was not up to our usual standards during your stay. As you noted, this was due to the large influx of guests from a neighbouring hotel which was last minute so we did not have time to bring in additional staff. I acknowledge that service would normally be better, but feel that our staff did a good job under the circumstances.

With regards to the shower head and noise in your room, I've asked maintenance to look at this as a matter of urgency.

Once again, thank you for your comments. We always welcome any feedback which allows us to improve and provide a better experience for future guests.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Hallmark as we were attending a local function. The staff were helpful without being intrusive, our room was a good size and very clean but most of all we enjoyed the lovely swimming pool. Nearly didn't make the function as we were so relaxed!

Many thanks for your extremely positive review. Most people will only make the effort to provide feedback if it's negative, so we appreciate you taking the time to write such a review.

We look forward to welcoming you again in future.

Very Disappointed. Started on arrival, Exterior appearance was terrible, like a Concentration Camp! Was described as a Spa Hotel in the heart of the Cotswolds. - Was about 30 Miles outside of the Cotswolds in the Middle of a Council Estate. As for the Spa, was like a Council owned Swimming Pool with a grotty Steam room and a Sauna. The Room- Over looked a Dry Ski Slope and our TV didnt work! Evening meal, (Fish and Chips) as we thought couldnt really get wrong. Terrible. Fish was sloppy and handmade Chips hard in Middle. Was told by waiter no Mussells left for starter, 5 minutes later some other guests who sat down AFTER us ordered Mussells and RECEIVED them! Bar staff were few and far between. Breakfast in the morning we had to wait for 15 Minutes to be seated, to find out they had run out of beans, bacon and bread to toast! To top it off, went back to our room to pack up and leave for the day to find our room key had been deactivated, as they thought we had gone home! I never write on here or usually listen to reviews as I beleive everyones opinion differs. But I was that DISAPPOINTED I thought I would share my experience to save others from wasting there money!

We are very sorry to hear of your disappointment. Our hotel is located on the beautiful Robinswood Hill (not a council estate) which is listed as one of the 10 top places to visit in Cotswold life. The hotel grounds are managed daily with lots of trees and plants, and a lovely Atrium awaits with plum lighting.

I have personally checked with my colleagues regarding your meal in the restaurant and general service that evening and understand that whilst service was slightly slow, all guests left very happy with no complaints, I understand this was also the case after breakfast.

As you can see from many other reviews, we do have many guests who have a fantastic experience with us but we are sorry that your experience was not as expected.

Kind regards

we stayed at this hotel as a girls weekend, and since then it has been renovated before hand the staff were rude though so i wouldnt bother going back for that reason.
the location is good for skking but it is not a health spa it has a few facilities mainly chargeable and it is off an industrail estate, not exactly a lovely location

Thank you for your feedback regarding our hotel. I note you stayed in May 2011, as this was nearly a year ago please be advised that over the last year our hotel has received a £3.5 million refurbishment.

Our staff have changed in many areas throughout the hotel and have all received customer service training to work to very high standards in every way possible. The hotel is very welcoming, all our staff hope to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and we hope many of our guests can benefit from all of the wonderful new facilities we have to offer.

With Golf, Ski and our Health Club all on site we hope you can come back to enjoy all of the new look facilities we have to offer.

My daughter had her wedding reception here on Easter Sunday. The room looked fabulous and the food was delicious.Special dietry requests were catered for without any fuss and the waiting staff were attentive without being intrusive.Considering there were 84 guests, everyone was served quite quickly. The venue had a great atmosphere and John and his team were fantastic, making sure every need was attended to.
A massive thank -you to all who made this day such
a wonderful occasion.
