Thanks to Trip advisor, I arranged for my husband and good friends to do this as part of a couples weekend break to Harrogate and received serious kudos for organising an awesome afternoon of fun. What a fantastic experience to be had at log heights! Apparently James came out of retirement to look after us, and I think he probably had as much fun as we did (either that, or he’s clearly a professional actor).
The activity itself is totally wow. Set in the grounds of Ripley Castle, complete with roaming pheasants and beautiful gardens - I couldn’t think of anything better to do than get harnessed up with three great people and climb trees. As James walked us through the grounds, the various obstacles blend into the scenery, which shows a clear commitment to the environment… and also disguises just how scary some of them will be.
Safety is at the heart of the experience, with clear explanations and training in how to tie ropes and belay, so you know you are going to be totally safe in all of the activities. James was on hand at all times to offer support and encouragement, as well as capture lots of wicked photos of us.
During our afternoon, we completed the High Beam, Jacob’s Ladder, Wild Woosey and the Leap of faith. Each activity is challenging in a different way – some are physical, others are psychological, some require serious team work, and some just test how brave/stupid you are.
All in all, a trip to Harrogate/Ripley would not be complete without a visit to Log heights… In fact, make a special trip just to go directly there! You will not be disappointed, and the experience will stay with you long after it ends.
