Rather disappointing and certainly not worth a £6.50 adult ticket. Other than the shire horse centre (6, in stables) and a couple of disinterested ponies in fields there was nothing more than you could see at any council-run petting zoo - and unlike other farm parks you can't hold the animals.

If I had had little children I might have considered it better value for money because the playground looked great!

On the plus side it's very tranquil and there are many good picnicking spots.

I recently took my 18 month year old nephew to Sacrewell farm after a recommendation from a friend. The entrance fees are reasonable £5.50 for an adult and £4 for children and under 3's are free. There is also a family ticket but I cannot remember the price.

We arrived fairly early as it can get busy during the school holidays. There is plenty for the children to see. There is a small animal area where at certain times children are able to handle the animals and I believe when the lambs are born children can feed them. My nephew loved looking at the sheep, hens, rabbits and calves. Further along the walk you can see the shire horses and their traps. There are also different farm animals further up more cows, sheep and goats. My favourite part of the farm was the mill house which is set up in the 1940's style. I also believe that on certain days they do bread breaking demonstrations etc.
You can also go on a tractor ride which is free.

For older children there are also activity sheets that they can do and the farm is very informative giving information about the local history and the history of farming and how it has changed. There is also a play area for older children which they all seemed to be enjoying.

The cafe is also excellent and reasonably priced. I had the soup which was absolutely delicious.

This is an excellent day out!
