Stopped here on way to airport, room very comfortable, except for the dreaded purple. Shower excellent and the bed and pillows so comfortable, had a great nights sleep. Our room overlooked Ben Bulben!!! lovely We had a meal with wine which was very reasonable and very good except for the veg, it was lukewarm and not cooked, I like veg with a bite "but".. We had to leave too early for breakfast.. Situation of this hotel is excellent, yards away from train and bus station. Knock airport only an hour..

Room Tip: Back rooms overlook Ben Bulben

Arrived directly from the train station, which is 50 or so meters from the hotel, to find an opulently furnished hotel with courteous, professional staff. Great start!

After a quick and easy check in, I made my way to my room which was nicely furnished with a comfortable bed and and a handsomely decorated bathroom. Excellent!

The next morning I had breakfast which, although a little expensive, was very satisfying and tasty. Lovely!

"So why only 2*?" you might ask.

Well, they're is one things I've always expected from a hotel and another I've come to expect, in recent years: A good night's sleep and decent WiFi, respectively.

There was a function happening the night of my stay and, although I was sleeping three storeys above the function hall, I was kept awake by the incessant "unph, unph, unph" of modern dance music until close to 1:00 AM. Said function room should be properly sound proofed.

The WiFi never worked on my smart phone. Not even for a second. And my tablet only managed to connect momentarily; just long enough to read an email but not long enough to reply. I had to go down to the lobby to respond to important work emails.

So much potential but the slip-ups I encountered were too damn important to ignore.

Undoubtedly Sligo's top hotel, this is luxurious at very reasonable prices. Well designed former railway hotel, rooms are large and comfortable. We did not eat here so can't comment on food - but menu looked good.
Great hotel.

An older hotel with high ceilings and old world charm. Spacious rooms, very comfortable, no aircon, safe or fridge. Shower over bath.
A small lift services all floors but a rambling old hotel with a reasonable walk to our room.
Had a gym, pool and leisure centre attached to the hotel.

Three of us wanted a twin and a single room. The best option available was this combination.

A twin with one dinner each and two breakfasts each for two of us at €298 or €149 each

A double with one dinner and two breakfasts for on at €298 for one person. The second dinner was not available on the second night so she had to pay for a person who who wasn't there.

The hotel was comfortable in an old fashioned way. Food was good the first night but not good on the second night. Staff were great but had to abide by the rules. Gerry played in the bar both nights.

Room Tip: Go as a couple or a pair. Not good for anyone who needs a single room
