My stay at the hotel was one of the best in Ireland in many years. Excellent service great staff and the best value for money.
However the city is a disgrace if you leave he main center.Dogsh rubbish not nice graffiti [although some very good]. I took a walk along the canal would not recommend without wellies.A place that could be very nice just no respect for the place.I can only hope the management can see what i see and do something about it,

Room Tip: If you don't like noise on party nights then ask for a quite one as the Irish like to party.

The Pier Hotel was great value at 49 euros for a double room facing the river! The reception staff at the desk were very pleasant. There was free WiFi (although it was only available near the reception) and free secure parking under the hotel. The room and bathroom were clean...only problem was the mattresses felt old and used. The location was great with the city centre only two streets away and King John's castle within walking distance.

I stayed here in September 2011 for two nights and can say it was a truly awful experience. The first room we were given was absolutly tiny with a small window so we requested to move rooms. The second room was slightly bigger but it was so worn, the bathroom door was broken and there were lightbulbs missing. Sleeping was a nightmare because a. there is a nightclub downstairs and b. there was some unit outside our window which kept us up most of the night. There were flies in the bar and the receptionist was very short with us. We had come to limerick for a relaxing weekend and were very disapointed- i would not recomend this hotel.

We stayed at the Pier Hotel one night on our 10 day trip to Ireland. When we got there, we were informed that there was a Hen Party, some Rugby teams, a 21st birthday party so it would be pretty rowdy. We left the bar at 12:30 or so and went to our room. The music from the private party was so loud that we couldn't fall asleep. Finally it ended, but the party ended up in our hallway. There was no way we could sleep--I called down to the desk to nicely ask if they could do something about it, and they said that someone would be up but no one came. We really weren't able to sleep between the drunks in the hallway and the ones in the street. Also, the rooms on the web site looked much larger than their actual size--ten by ten at most. We mentioned this at check out, and all that was said was "Sorry." I was thinking maybe a free breakfast, a discount on our room. This was by far our worst night in Ireland. However, the front desk worker did recommend an awesome restaurant, The Corn Market.

was late in the evening and asked the barman for something to eat, the kitchen was closed, he was very busy and said he would rustle up something when he had a moment, about 10 mins later like magic, he served me ( toasted ham and cheese sandwich ) with a side of chips and a salad, very professional and dedicated, thanks Andrew,

Room Tip: go for room 109 , perfect view of the river shannon..
