We were very blessed to spend three lovely nights at Alcantra B & B. Liam and Brigid Holohan are terrific hosts! Their home is beautiful and they graciously open up several areas for your use, including the beautiful conservatory and the breakfast dining area, both overlooking beautiful gardens. Their location is a real plus--a very short walk from town so that you can park at Alcantra and walk into town to view all the sights and dine. Our room was lovely and ever so quiet!

Brigid's breakfasts are amazing! Freshly baked bread every morning with Brigid's amazing fresh-made preserves and fruit compotes are enough to have you gain several pounds, but add full Irish breakfasts or her scrambled eggs and salmon or her pancakes and you will be delightfully stuffed. Beautiful linens, silver, and elegant service--what an absolute delight.

For good travel advice of what to see and how to travel, both Brigid and Liam are great information sources. Your time with these two will be very well spent and I assure you that your memories will be so very pleasant. We were so glad we had the opportunity to stay with them and to enjoy the beautiful city of Kilkenny.

Room Tip: All rooms are well furnished and quiet.

Looked nice on the outside however never got to stay there after calling and stopping at the place for about 6+ hours on the day we were supposed to stay there. Forgot about our booking and ended up having to find a hotel room close by. Place is very close to Kilkenny only about 5 minutes from town.

Alcantra B&B was gorgeous! Beautiful and clean home with a warm and friendly welcome from Liam and Bridget. Our family had three rooms that were very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. We will be back.

We had a wonderful stay at Liam and Brigid's home. They are great hosts - very welcoming and we were reluctant to leave when it was finally time to go. As one of the other reviewers commented, we felt as though we were staying with family. Brigid gave some great suggestions of things to do and the recommendation for Kyteler's Inn was spot on - we had a great time and the food and music were great. We learned a great deal about Kilkenny and had a great chat about some of my family's history, which happens to have origins outside of Kilkenny. The location is just a bit outside of the city center - but not bad as it's just a 15 minute walk to the castle. The rooms were comfortable and very clean. We had a very memorable stay thanks to our hosts.

Alcantra is a beautiful home with wonderful hosts. Our room was beautifully appointed and breakfasts were lovely. Liam and Brigid made us feel as if we were visiting with family. They even drove downtown with us to show us where to park when we went out to dinner. Although all the B&B's we stayed in were nice, this was our favorite B&B on our recent two week vacation in Ireland.

Room Tip: All of their room looked equally nice.
