We stayed here for a week at Easter with our children aged 6 & 4 and we all loved it. There was loads to do and the children were never bored. The indoor soft play, outdoor playgound and swimming pool provided all we needed during the day and the evening entertainment was great fun. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the houses were very well equipped. The beach is 5 min drive and is lovely and Ballyheigue is 5km away and has a lovely beach and playground. We will definately be going again. In Ardfert, Kate xxx pub does lovely food and a little further on towards Tralee is the Ballyroe Heights Hotel, they do very reasonable and nice food. Tralee is only 15 min drive and Killarney is about 40 mins.

Stayed in Banna for a week, went home last Saturday and let me tell you if the children didn't have school I would have stayed on. We had an absolute ball. The facilities on site are fantastic. My two sons aged 10 and 8 loved playing on the astro pitch, pirate petes, the pool and the playground. They never complained that they were bored which is exactly what I want when I go on a family holiday. These facilities are clean, secure and well layed out... The astro pitch and the playground are not supervised by staff members unlike the pool and pirate petes but the secure fences and gates make up for this. Myself and my husband could sit outside with a lovely coffee from the bar and watch them ourselves. The staff on site were very helpful at all times. Our children were in "Banna Camp" and found the leaders professional, helpful and the boys loved them... They said they were great fun, and while the leaders were great fun, us as parents noticed how safe they were at all times and we trusted them with our children for a few hours a day.. The girl in pirate petes is also very professional. She keeps the play area clean, supervises children and is helpful for information about restaurants nearby etc. The receptionists couldnt have been nicer when we checked in. They are as nice in person as they are when booking over the phone. The nightly entertainment is brilliant. We enjoyed it as much as the children. We were delighted when activities such as bingo and the quiz are for the parents as well as children. The only fault I have is that the houses and buildings in the main area are in need of a lick of paint. Other than that we had an amazing week and cant wait to go back next summer.

When we arrived 2 other guests were checking out early saying the place was filthy, so when we got into our house we were very happy to see that it looked clean. Decor is very basic but comfortable and house is a good size.
The problems started to show after being there for the 1st night. The satellite didn't work properly on the t.v. so we were left with 4 stations-had to go out and buy dvds for everyone. The immersion was faulty so only barely luke warm water, which didn't matter anyway as pressure in showers was so bad I couldn't get my hair wet enough to wash. The doors inside were warped and wouldn't close and creaked so loudly they woke the kids.
The children's play centre had a decent bit of equipment in it but no seperate area in it for smaller children so they ended up climbing to the top, getting stuck etc. Also the room it was in was half decorated. Half done murals on the walls, old mismatched tables and chairs everywhere, broken arcade games and rides, and grab machines where the toys inside had dust on them.
The pool was very good, with 2 smaller kids pools but it was dirty and on one very rainy busy day, the changing rooms were not looked after and smelled heavily of urine.
Another disappointment was that the children's entertainment was on between 8 and 9 so had to keep all the kids up late to watch....my older ones loved it, but hard work keeping 18month old twins up.
The games room was also ill equiped, with only 2 pool and 1 air hockey table and very few arcade games. Pitch black in there too. It only kept them occupied for a few minutes.
The outside playground was great and right beside the bar. If they just spruced up the bar, put some comfortable seating in there and maybe did a bit of bar food, it would be somewhere that you could take the kids, sit outside and relaxed and had a bit of a holiday yourself.
All in all this place could be good if they just spruced it up. They are doing the bare minimum to keep it open. If it was €400 a week it'd be fine but they're selling it as 4* and charging a fortune.
We left early and after speaking to the owner we got half of our money back; however he claimed not to be aware of how run down the houses were, that no one else had complained???
If you want a cheap and cheerful holiday only for your kids with no comfort for you, this'd be fine if you get a good deal off peak.

Room Tip: 4"6' bed only, be warned

Visited Banna Beach Resort in July 2011, first impressions when we arrived was.. what are we after paying for?? checked in on Saturday €100 deposit for damages & €42 ESB for the week.. got key to house (old type house) shocking when we pulled up outside it.. very tacky grass not cut, paint all chipped off window seals rubbish bins across the way just not a nice sight at all, to our surpirise when we went inside the house was ok.. small but as there was only 2adults and 1 child the space was okay.. patio doors in sitting room outside was nothing short of a overgrown field... grass was not cut and dirty can full of cigeratte buts outside door! after the first day musty smell in house.. not a house you would be comfortable in relaxing in... We were talking to another family who were in new house and said it was lovely so really would suggest that if your thinking of going there do not stay in the old houses.

EATING: one word to describe this about the resort "shocking" on the complex there is a "Diner" in other words a greasy chipper burgers fat dripping out of it with half raw chips! no other eating options unless you go to nearby village Ardfert - lovely pub Ann Browns home cooked food but very Expensive. No cafe in complex which it is badly missing can only get sandwich in shop which were terriable...

Night Life: this complex is definatly for families who want to stay out all night drinking while kids do what they want... over priced drink. few security men around but no security barriers any one can drive in around complex.. very unsafe.... even caravan park down the road has security barriers up!

This place could really do with paying attention to parents daytime needs in other ways other than alcohol... nice cafe, sandwich bar really is a must there..

To be honest what the week cost us we would have gone to spain or portugal, would definatly not go back and stay here this place is really years behind and needs a over all facelift.. going by the website it looks fab but before you book it take a day trip first trust me you will save in the long run.. our 4yr old loved it but why wouldnt he playground and pool every day.. pirate pete's nothing in this place for parents only drink!!!

We stayed in the Sand Dune cottages attached to the hotel, with our kids aged 10yrs, 5yrs and 6mths. We were holidaying with another family. First impressions were not good. The cottages could do with lick of paint but the interiors were comfy and clean. The 'hotel' is a large bar, and the 'reception' is actual the entrance to the leisure centre. In saying that the resort has all amenities one would want - a small diner; a leisure centre; an amusement arcade; evening entertainment; beach closeby; sand dunes; playgrounds indoor and outdoor; all weather pitch/basketball court. We used all of the facilities. The leisure centre is good, small changing rooms but good sized pool, with kiddies section and separate toddler pool. The indoor play area is quite good too. The shop has a bit of everything you would need day to day, including beach toys, and everything is reasonably priced. We didnt eat in the diner, its more of a fast food diner, quite small and was almost always busy. The arcade rooms are where most of the kids hang out. Some gambling machines, but most are just for fun. The entertainment was very good every night. Kids shows from about 6 to 8 and then live music. Even the live music catered more for the kids. The beach is fantastic, very open so can be windy. Sand dunes are good for an adventure with the kids. The nearest town is Ardfert, nice Italian restaurant there, Lescala, and Kate Browns bar is also good for food. Very good pitch and putt course there too. Ballyheigue is about 5kms in the other direction, this also has very nice beach. Plenty of rock pools here. Some nice diners and cafes for food. Everyone in our group really enjoyed the holiday, the kids made some friends and asked that we go back again soon.
All the kids with us made friends and enjoyed the holidays very much. The be
