“Relaxing two days”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2012

Stayed at Ballygarry over the Easter break for two nights. We had a lovely room with two large bay windows a very comfy large bed and the turndown service was a nice little touch I didn't expect. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the bar the second. Food was lovely on both occasions and plentiful. I did think the price of main courses in the bar were a little pricey but the food was great. We used the thermal spa facilities after spending the day hill walking and there was nothing like slipping into the hot tub to ease the aching muscles. I didn't have any treatments but the spa area was very impresssive and they were running some fantastic special offers. Staff throughout were courteous and welcoming.

Just had a half day of heaven in the fabulous Nadur Spa at Ballygarry House Hotel. We booked the midweek special which included 3 treatments, lunch in the restaurant and use of the Thermal Suite. It was all fabulous from start to finish. The outside hot-tub is brilliant, even on a cold day!! The treatment rooms are very relaxing and the therapists are very friendly and professional. After the wonderful treatments, it was time for the relaxtion room lying in one of the luxurious cocoons and enjoying the view and the peace & quiet. After all that, to finish our lovely visit, we went for lunch in the restaurant which was great. I can really recommend the midweek special and will definitely be going back as soon as possible.

My wife and I had the pleasure of spending a midweek break in this wonderful hotel recently. Of all the hotels we have stayed in, both in Ireland and abroad, this is certainly one of the best. We were met by a very pleasant receptionist who made us feel very much at home and gave us a complete run down of the facilities available especially in the beautiful Spa.Our room was extremely comfortable, very spacious, spotlessly clean and very well equipped to meet all our needs. The meals were delicious and were served by very pleasant, homely and efficient staff both in the restaurant and the bar. Our experience of the Spa was superb.I have no hesitation in saying that all the staff in the Spa were outstanding and deserve to be congratulated. One got the distinct feeling that the hotel's motto was to give the customer a truly memorable experience and that was certainly achieved as far as we were concerned. Ballygarry House Hotel is one of the best run hotels we have stayed in. Congratulations to one and all on a job well done. We look forward very much to a return visit. If we were to offer a suggestion it would be to consider reducing the cost of the bar food which we thought was a little expensive. Well done, keep up the good work.

We stayed here for one night last June. The room was lovely, the staff very nice, and we got a great deal. For work reasons we had travelled separately to Tralee, and the hotel allowed us to leave one car there for two nights as we went west for the weekend - which was greatly appreciated. The only downside was the location. The hotel is a little out of town, and the road into town is very busy, so walking into town to eat was not an option. Otherwise highly recommended.

What a lovely stay we had in Ballygarry House. We picked this hotel on the basis of its Tripadvisor reviews and were glad we did.

We were staying for 3 nights, so when we were given a room adjacent to the car park, we asked if there was any chance of a room on the garden side of the hotel. They moved us into a lovely first-floor room overlooking the picturesque garden (which is well worth a stroll in itself). Separate bathroom with shower in the bath and two sinks! The shower head was old, so the water power was coming and going a little bit, but otherwise it was very nice indeed.

The complimentary dressing-gowns and slippers were much appreciated too. As it was raining outside, we made use of the hotel's DVD service where they'll loan you a DVD player and a DVD of your choice - all at no cost.

The bedroom safe had a flat battery so wasn't working. We notified reception; they said it would be fixed that day, but it wasn't. We rang again the following morning - and a staff member had it fixed in 10 minutes.

We enjoyed the upstairs lounge too - lots of seating, free internet access (with printer), lamps for reading and a TV with a Playstation! The night porter opened the lounge for me at 12 midnight so I could relax and read for a while, which was greatly appreciated.

The hotel restaurant is of a high standard: spacious, warmly lit and most importantly, the food was superb. Only one complaint: we were on a package deal that included a dinner, so we were given the 'package' menu. In fairness to the hotel, the package menu is designed to look like the a la carte menu, so it's not obvious to others that you're there on a deal. But if other renowned four-stars (e.g. the Maryborough Hotel in Cork) can let people on a package deal order off the a la carte menu for no extra charge, why can't Ballygarry?

That aside, the restaurant turned out fantastic food for us all weekend; we tried different breakfasts each day and all of them were delicious (especially the smoked salmon and scrambled egg).

Ballygarry has an impressive spa too, which my wife tried out and really enjoyed. She found the massage treatment expensive and was hoping for a better standard for the cost, but she loved the outdoor hot-tub, sauna and steam room, all of which are complimentary to guests, and she came back fully chilled out.

All told - we'd highly recommend Ballygarry House for anyone passing through the Kingdom. Give it a try!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the garden side.

Dear DaveGalway,

Thank you for taking the time to write your detailed review. I am delighted to read your praise of Ballygarry House. During your stay guests can at any time choose to upgrade to the a la carte menu in our restaurant, but there are supplements attached to this as our accomodation packages are very competitively priced. I will pass your kind words on to all of our staff, and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to us again in the future.

Best wishes,
