We had booked this hotel as part of a golf/ sightseeing vacation . Our driver for the week was a Killarney native and advised us this was the best hotel in Killarney, all the features you would expect

The Malton is a former railway hotel in the same genre as the great Canadian "lodges" in the Rockies. High ceilings, reading and writing rooms, staff bustling to and fro in starched collars, oversized flower arrangements everywhere and plushly carpeted corridors heading off to wings in all directions. The rooms are comfortable and quiet as the hotel is in a six acre park in the heart of Killarney. TV, WiFi, in room tea and coffee and well appointed bathrooms including heated towel rack perfect for drying wet hiking socks. Pretty, green and airy views of the Killarney Park hills beyond. Great breakfast.

Dear Guest,

Thank you kindly for taking the time to write such a complimentary review. Yes you are correct The Malton was originally opened 161 years ago as a railway hotel. We try as much as we can to keep a sense old world charm where we can around the hotel. We are indeed quite fortunate with our location in Killarney Town Centre and yet have our own 6 acres of private gardens and of course the magnificent views of the mountains from the back of the hotel. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us & do hope to welcome you back again soon.

Warmest Regards,
Conor Hennigan
General Manager

My husband and I stayed at the Malton for 3 nights. It's a lovely, old-fashioned, full service hotel, surrounded by park-like grounds, and only a couple of blocks from the city center. Our room was large, immaculately clean, and the bed was very comfortable. This hotel seems to cater to large tour groups and therefore attracts an older clientele than the nearby Ross hotel where our daughter and son-in-law stayed, but there were newlyweds staying here as well. We are not big breakfast people, so usually walked down the block to Lir Coffee for Lattes, but we did enjoy the continental breakfast one morning--fresh pastries, scones, Irish yoghurt, cereal, cold salmon, and fresh-squeezed juices. We also enjoyed the cozy bar with fireplace seating. The pickup for jaunting carts and various tours is just around the corner. Some of our favorite activities while visiting included touring the Gap of Dunloe via horse cart and boat (views are stunning!) and hanging out at the newly opened Killarney Brewing Company, just a short walk from the hotel (fun people and good beer).

This hotel is an extremely well kept hotel in a dated building. Be prepared for long walks and differing floor levels. Other than that this hotel is in a fab location with excellent friendly staff, good food and good decor. Watch the sites for a deal and enjoy.

We had a fantastic stay at the Malton, while celebrating my brothers wedding. Fantastic breakfasts, an amazing reception.Only little complaint was we requested rooms together with other family members for childcare reasons which weren't initially honoured so we had to move rooms in the middle of oht stay.
