Home after a really great two night stay at the Ardilaun. The staff in this hotel are extremely professional, efficient, polite & helpful. Every staff member we encountered over our stay- from telephone booking to reception staff, restaurant & bar, room service, beauticians and gym staff -ALL were friendly and just genuinely nice people who clearly take pride in their work.
We arrived on Friday evening and were met with a warm welcome. Delighted with our room- bright, airy, spacious & comfortable- plenty of storage, wi-fi available in bedroom and throughout hotel. Our patio doors opened out into a lovely back garden area with pathways, old garden walls, archways, seating areas and a fountain- the grounds at the Ardilaun are really lovely and well tended (we loved the gate house)
There was a lovely atmosphere in the hotel. There was a wedding party there on Friday evening and a nice buzz-also, the lobby area is very spacious with adjoining rooms- so, there was plenty of room for both the wedding party and other visitors to the hotel.
We ate in the restaurant on Friday evening- the waitress was excellent and we were both happy with the three courses we each had. Same waitress served us breakfast next morning and again did so with a smile. There was a nice selection of cereals, juices, breads and full Irish to choose from. We ordered room service for morning two and this arrived on time and again, was lovely. It was a lovely sunny morning and we ate with the patio doors open- there was also a table and chairs outside on the patio where we could sit and enjoy coffees with a reasonable amount of privacy. We both used the pool/sauna/steam rm/ Jacuzzi in the mornings- great facilities, friendly staff. I had some treatments in the beauty salon on Saturday- beautician was lovely and I really enjoyed both slots of pampering- worth a visit during your stay.
We stayed in one of the dog friendly rooms. We won the two night’s trip through a website called ohmydog.ie and were delighted to bring our little 4 legged friend along! There was a doggy bowl in the room on arrival with a dog biscuit (she hoovered that down). The patio doors were great- dog could wander about in the garden and run about while we pottered about in the room- while keeping an eye on her at the same time. We were provided with information about local dog walks (including directions) and numbers for vets. We were also provided with a list of rules about having the dog in the hotel- the general rules one would expect- cleaning up in the garden, dogs not allowed on furniture, supervising etc. It was a fantastic treat for us to be able to bundle our dog into the car, stay in the luxuries of The Ardilaun and get to wander around Galway city, Salthill and the dog’s favourite- Barna Woods. (Theres more information about the pet friendly rooms on the Ardilaun's webpage- although the link is hard to find and could be missed)
We would recommend The Ardilaun in a flash and we definitely want to return when we can. A local lady using the sauna/ gym facilities commented that she thought The Ardilaun was the best hotel in Galway. I would rank The Ardilaun certainly as one of the best hotels I have stayed in- Galway and beyond. We loved it.

Room Tip: We loved Rm 100. Opened right out to the lovely gardens and right beside the underground car park en...

As a regular visitor to the Ardilaun Hotel I find it an excellent venue. The staff are exceptionally welcoming. Throughout one's stay they are helpful at all times and responsive to the needs of their guests. The atmosphere is one of relaxation and comfort.
The best of Irish food is very competently prepared, attractively presented and served with a smile.
Accommodation is spacious and very comfortable and the spa, pool and therapies are a most refreshing added bonus.
Its situation, so close to city centre and adjacent to the sea at Salthill, as well as its proximity to Barna, Spidal and all the attractions to the west make it an ideal location for a holiday or short break.
I have no hesitation in recommending the Ardilaun Hotel.

Stayed on Sunday & Monday night recently with my other half. Originally had a regular room, which was basic, but fine, but got an upgrade for €50 for the 2 nights for a deluxe room, which was superb. Really big, cosy and well decorated, well worth the extra money. We ate in the restaurant on one evening. There was a deal on - 4 course dinner for two for €59. What an amazing deal. The food was fantastic, could not fault it at all, well presented and extremely tasty.
We used the leisure centre also. No fault with it either, quite nice, friendly staff, plenty of room and well maintained. Not as 'luxurious' as some of the spa resorts, but nothing wrong with it either.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff were friendly, the place was clean, it's very convenient for the city and it was great value. We would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, ask for an upgrade to a Deluxe room - you won't believe the difference!

Myself and my Fiance met with the wedding co-ordinator to see if we would book the Ardilaun Hotel for our wedding next year in September for apporx. 250 guests.

Unfortunately the Ardilaun still think they can go on name alone, they do not have a can do attitude any requests we had were answered with "NO we are unable to accomodate this" we even asked about flowers and the lady just said what you see is what you get. Her reason for Not accomodating or negotiating on the package was that "the ardilaun has a name for one of the best wedding venue's in Galway" im sorry but if they had a sales and marketing manager they would clearly know that other Hotels are firstly offering a much better package and secondly are not being met with "NO" when a question is being asked, so unprofessional.

The lady was suppose to folllow up with a phone call the next day and an email - this never happend.

I am very happy to say that myself and my fiance have booked our wedding for September 2013 for 250 guests at another Leading Venue in Galway who were only happy to recieve our business with a can do attitude.

Dear 'Dublingirl64',

It is very disappointing to read your review. I can assure you that your title of your post is most certainly not a true reflection of how we work with our many wedding enquiries.

As you will know, I have tried to make contact with you by sending a private message to you through tripadvisor. It is unfortunate that I have not had a response from you as customer service is of the utmost importance to us and I would have welcomed the opportunity to speak with you in person.

Unfortunately, we cannot link your tripadvisor post to any of the wedding enquiries which are live with us at the moment or any of those which we have received since 01 January of this year. As this is so, it is very difficult to make any specific comments in relation to your post and it is not possible to make contact with you by phone / email as we do not seem to have any contact details for you.

I can only assure you that we work hard at all times to ensure a very high quality of service throughout the hotel so I find it very difficult to accept or understand the comments made in your post. The Ardilaun Hotel is owned and managed by the Ryan Family since 1962 - 50 years in business this year - and has hosted over three thousand weddings. In 2011 we were awarded 'Best Wedding Venue of the Year in Connacht' with Weddingsonline. While we appreciate that we are a popular wedding venue, this can only be as a result of the dedication and standards of the whole team here at the hotel - the standards set are very high and we 'always try harder' to ensure that all guests and clients enjoy a comfortable and memorable experience with us.

I would very much appreciate if you would contact me directly should you feel you would like to do so - I would be very happy to speak with you.

Wishing you all the very best with your wedding plans and for the future.

Best Regards,
John Ryan

We can highly recommend this hotel since it really goes without saying we have just been on our twentieth visit. Customer care is paramount. Staff go out of their way to ensure your visit is 'special'. The staff on reception are delightful assisting with every aspect of requests made of them. It really is "home from home". The ladies will assist with the geography of the local area should you wish to avail of some retail therapy and there is always a gentleman on hand to suggest golf to keep the men happy. The restaurant fare is exquisite - desserts to die for. Staff are exceptional.
