As a regular visitor to the Ardilaun Hotel I find it an excellent venue. The staff are exceptionally welcoming. Throughout one's stay they are helpful at all times and responsive to the needs of their guests. The atmosphere is one of relaxation and comfort.
The best of Irish food is very competently prepared, attractively presented and served with a smile.
Accommodation is spacious and very comfortable and the spa, pool and therapies are a most refreshing added bonus.
Its situation, so close to city centre and adjacent to the sea at Salthill, as well as its proximity to Barna, Spidal and all the attractions to the west make it an ideal location for a holiday or short break.
I have no hesitation in recommending the Ardilaun Hotel.

Stayed on Sunday & Monday night recently with my other half. Originally had a regular room, which was basic, but fine, but got an upgrade for €50 for the 2 nights for a deluxe room, which was superb. Really big, cosy and well decorated, well worth the extra money. We ate in the restaurant on one evening. There was a deal on - 4 course dinner for two for €59. What an amazing deal. The food was fantastic, could not fault it at all, well presented and extremely tasty.
We used the leisure centre also. No fault with it either, quite nice, friendly staff, plenty of room and well maintained. Not as 'luxurious' as some of the spa resorts, but nothing wrong with it either.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff were friendly, the place was clean, it's very convenient for the city and it was great value. We would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, ask for an upgrade to a Deluxe room - you won't believe the difference!

Myself and my Fiance met with the wedding co-ordinator to see if we would book the Ardilaun Hotel for our wedding next year in September for apporx. 250 guests.

Unfortunately the Ardilaun still think they can go on name alone, they do not have a can do attitude any requests we had were answered with "NO we are unable to accomodate this" we even asked about flowers and the lady just said what you see is what you get. Her reason for Not accomodating or negotiating on the package was that "the ardilaun has a name for one of the best wedding venue's in Galway" im sorry but if they had a sales and marketing manager they would clearly know that other Hotels are firstly offering a much better package and secondly are not being met with "NO" when a question is being asked, so unprofessional.

The lady was suppose to folllow up with a phone call the next day and an email - this never happend.

I am very happy to say that myself and my fiance have booked our wedding for September 2013 for 250 guests at another Leading Venue in Galway who were only happy to recieve our business with a can do attitude.

It is very disappointing to read your review. I can assure you that your title of your post is most certainly not a true reflection of how we work with our many wedding enquiries.

As you will know, I have tried to make contact with you by sending a private message to you through tripadvisor. It is unfortunate that I have not had a response from you as customer service is of the utmost importance to us and I would have welcomed the opportunity to speak with you in person.

Unfortunately, we cannot link your tripadvisor post to any of the wedding enquiries which are live with us at the moment or any of those which we have received since 01 January of this year. As this is so, it is very difficult to make any specific comments in relation to your post and it is not possible to make contact with you by phone / email as we do not seem to have any contact details for you.

I can only assure you that we work hard at all times to ensure a very high quality of service throughout the hotel so I find it very difficult to accept or understand the comments made in your post. The Ardilaun Hotel is owned and managed by the Ryan Family since 1962 - 50 years in business this year - and has hosted over three thousand weddings. In 2011 we were awarded 'Best Wedding Venue of the Year in Connacht' with Weddingsonline. While we appreciate that we are a popular wedding venue, this can only be as a result of the dedication and standards of the whole team here at the hotel - the standards set are very high and we 'always try harder' to ensure that all guests and clients enjoy a comfortable and memorable experience with us.

We can highly recommend this hotel since it really goes without saying we have just been on our twentieth visit. Customer care is paramount. Staff go out of their way to ensure your visit is 'special'. The staff on reception are delightful assisting with every aspect of requests made of them. It really is "home from home". The ladies will assist with the geography of the local area should you wish to avail of some retail therapy and there is always a gentleman on hand to suggest golf to keep the men happy.The restaurant fare is exquisite - desserts to die for. Staff are exceptional.

Booked the hotel via Supervalue reward deal break.
Picked the only 4 star hotel available in Galway for the selected dates.
On arrival, we were directed to our rooms and as we walked further and further away from the main reception, the communal area was less appealing. First impressions of the bedroom was that it was absolutely freezing and generally grubby. Windows were left open. On closing them, I had to be careful not to touch all the mildrew that had gathered around the frame and sill. There was yogurt type substance splashed on tv and the bed spread looked like something from the 80s and had stains suggesting that it hadn't been washed since then. Because the room was so cold and there wasn't adequate or clean bed covering, we requested a duvet. Pulling back the floral bedspread, we found nuts and other food scattered under the bed. It was clear that a vacuum had not been used in a very long time. Next to the nuts and crumbs, there was a rentokill/vermin box. At this stage we felt physically sick and could not stay any longer.
There was no offer of an alternative room. We even offered to pay full amount for an upgrade. We were forced to leave the hotel at 11 o'clock.The manager spoke very quietly to me as the reception area was busy and promised to call me to discuss further. He never did. We found an alternative hotel and checked in at midnight, exhausted following the situation.
We are highly sceptical of the Ardilaun's treatment towards us and wonder if our stay was not booked under the 'Supervalue/reward' scheme, would we have been treated like proper 4 star guests. in any event, we are regular travellers to hotels and were delighted to pay any rate that matched the service expected. We will never step foot in the Ardilaun again.
I would suggest that management alert customers in the future as part of their advertisement, that if they book any special deals etc, that they will not receive 4 star treatment, and could be accommodated in the more delapidated and unclean rooms.

Thank you for your comments. As you are aware, we have made several attempts to make contact with you in relation to your feedback. Customer service is very important to us and we would very much have welcomed the opportunity to speak with you in person.

Please accept our apologies that the room assigned to you was cold on arrival. It was an oversight on our behalf that the window was open. This has been brought to the attention of our accommodation team.

Having personally inspected the room you were assigned, immediately following receipt of your feedback, I can confirm that I found no evidence of mildew on the window sill or any stains on the television. You are correct in saying that underneath the bed had not been vacumed as it should have been – this point has also been brought to the attention of our accommodation team and has been addressed.

The room which was assigned to you is one of a more classical design and we have had many compliments from our return visitors and guests. The room has been refurbished within the last couple of years to include new and expensive wallpaper and bedspreads – all of which are very good quality and condition.

The boxes which you observed underneath the bed are installed in most Irish hotels as a proactive and preventative measure to ensure guests have a completely comfortable stay.

I have spoken to the receptionist on duty the evening you were with us and I understand that you would have been happy to have been upgraded to another room. Unfortunately, we were not in a position to offer you a reallocation as, thankfully, these rooms were already occupied by other guests – the sign of a very well managed hotel. We would have been happy to move you to another room but it appeared the room would not have been to your satisfaction.

Our duty manager who spoke with you, and who describes you in his notes and a genuine and nice lady, should certainly have made contact with you the day following but was on a day off. He is sincerely apologetic that he did not make contact as promised.

Our Supervalue customer is just as valuable to us as any other customer, guest or visitor and we continuously welcome repeat Supervalue custom. Supervalue guests are treated no differently to any other guest. It would be organisationally impossible and incorrect to do so.

If you would like to reconsider, and take the time to speak with us, we would very much welcome your call.
