“Best Hostel in Dublin”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2012

I stayed here for St Pattys Day, and it was awesome. The bar is the cheapest place to drink in Dublin. The rooms are very clean and updated. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. Will come back. It can be quite the maze, and bathrooms aren't on every floor, but definitely a small price to pay for the quality of this place.

GO HERE YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

We stayed for three nights in April. We were allocated beds 2 and 4 but when we got there people were already using those beds so we went back downstairs and checked that it was ok to have beds 5 and 6 only free ones- we were told his was fine, no problem at all. There was a fire alarm that night which was annoying we had to stand outside in the cold even though it was known to be a false alarm. The next day we came back to the hostel to find two new people had moved into our beds. The cleaners obviously used a list of bed numbers to know which beds to change but we did leave stuff on the beds and the guy who told us it was fine old could changed the list. So we had to ask to get the sheets on the other beds changed and we moved across there and carted all the stuff out our lockers to the other one. On the last night there was a wild drunken party going on in the room next door so that wasnt great. Overall the hostel was good though it was very clean, most of the staff were good except the check in guy. There were plenty of showers and toilets, the beds were really comfy, the bar was good and it was really safe. Great low price, it would be great if you were travelling as a group and could share the whole room to yourself.

Room Tip: The ladies toilets and showers is on the first floor the men's was upstairs so if you are a grou...

Dear MMacKa,

Thank you very much for taking the time to review the Generator Dublin following your recent stay with us. We were delighted to hear that you had such an enjoyable stay with us and we appreciate you taking the time to share this information with fellow guests.

We understand from your review and appreciate the fact that you felt annoyed by the fire alarm being activated during the night. The policy at our property is to carry out full evacuations once the alarm is activated whilst the situation is being investigated thoroughly as the safety of all guests and staff of the property is our priority. On the night in question the activation was indeed caused by a guest who felt it would be fun to activate a break glass panel.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Generator Dublin in the near future.

Once again thank you for your feedback.

Regards

Generator hostel is a nice place. When you enter for the first time you feel a bit like you ended up in a high school fraternity party place, but in general it's a nice place.

Positive
- Very clean
- Comfortable (bunk) beds
- Lively
- Modern/pretty interior
- Sleeping rooms are quiet

Negative
- I would not go for the breakfast which you can buy for four euro's, because that's not worth the money
- Is a bit far from Dublin centre

I found a lovely hostel in an enchanting city!
I suggest this hostel for his good quality and low prices.
The hostel is brand new and the staff is enthusiastic, welcoming and very friendly.
The rooms are spacious, and it feels like at home.
There is a fully equipped breakfast , internet wi-fi connection and many comfortable couches.
Just one of the best places I ever stayed!

I choose this hostel because it looked very nice on the website. The pictures and the information on the website was very clear and moderated.
But when I arrived there was mold in my 'clean' sheets. The bathroom floor was so dirty I refused to walk on them with my bare feet, every where was dust, hairs and mold. The sink was clogged. The toilet hadn't been cleaned in days. In the shower there was mold on the wall as high as my knee. When I asked to clean the bathroom, they only mopped the floor. Afterwards you coudn't see any differents.
On the website the female dormitory looked very nice and moderated. But in the female dormitory I stayed in was no chair and table and a lot smaller then it looked on the picture.
I don't recommend this hostel at all!!

Room Tip: Do not expect to much of the Generator Hostel in Dublin.
