I came here with my boyfriend for my 18th birthday, having found it online! My boyfriend and I had both studied hospitality and catering at college, he works as a chef and I am a supervisor at a hotel, so when we see a 4 star hotel, we expect 4 star service, rooms and food! Not what we recieved.
When we got to the hotel, after flying in, and getting a taxi there, we were told that we couldn't check in until 3, which we both understood, so we sat in a lobby waiting to check in, not once were we offered a drink, or anything.
When we eventually got into the room, I was so disappointed, the bathroom was so dirty, the skirting boards were hanging off the walls in the room, the tv had no signal, was really fuzzy, and the sheets were 'bobbly' for want of a better word.
We went to sleep after a long day of traveling, then when we got up in the morning we went to breakfast. It was a nightmare! This is an example of the breakfast we had on the 2nd day.
We got in to the breakfast room at 8:15 sat down and waited until 8:40 to be spoken to. We ordered our breakfast, having been told the previous day that in Ireland you have to ask if you want your eggs 'hard or soft' so obviously we asked for soft poached eggs. 30 mins later, when we got our 2 star breakfast, one of my boyfriends eggs was raw the other was rock hard! We sent it back, having been told by management to complain at the time- the 'chef' who was also the 'housekeeper' came out to the restaurant, and clearly shouted at my boyfriend saying if he wants his eggs don't so specifically to go and cook them himself!
The couple sat next to us in the room were shocked at what had just happened, but they also didn't escape the problems, the man had his breakfast 25 mins after the woman got hers!
For the amount of money- I'd say steer clear! I could say so much more about our awful experice-
Like the fact that it's not in the city centre its about a 30 min walk.
And that the staff don't speak English, so you have to wait for days to speak to management about an issue
And that we had to pay €1 everytime we wanted hot water, because there were no tea and coffee making facilities
The 'free wi-fi' didn't work
The water from the taps was brown
The place really doesn't deserve 4* and don't know how they got them in the first place!!
