We booked the Clontarf Castle Hotel based on its uniqueness and proximity to the Dublin airport for our return flight home. The property is attractive and inviting, built around a castle. Our room though small was clean and comfortable. There was some late night noise from an outdoor bar area that carried up several flights to our room. We were directed to one staff member who was most helpful with a map and clear directions to the airport (about 20 minutes away). His restaurant recommendations were non-specific, just indicating streets with restaurants. The room exceeded $300 per night with taxes and booking fee which seemed rather steep, given the room size and location, and in comparison with other Dublin hotel prices. The area is a fair distance from the city center. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, but the area is not one a tourist would normally seek out for sightseeing. Thus, the price seemed a bit out of line considering the hotel's location.

This is a really lovely hotel spotlessly clean, good atmosphere and tasty food. It is a little bit out from city centre but definitely worth it. There are plenty of buses and taxis to get you around

The historic Clontarf castle hotel is about 20 minutes by cab from the Dublin airport. The castle is quite splendid and it is a short walk to the city bus stops. The rooms are spacious and our room for two children and two adults had a small table and chairs. ( in addition to 3 beds) The restaurant and bar are excellent and the breakfasts are about the best anywhere. Overall, our stay was excellent. The staff service is superior. The only downside: bicycles are part of the amenities however, the staff indicated that there are only 2 available!

Room Tip: If you cannot book through Travelocity or another travel service on line, try going to the hotel's web site to book directly. Our first attempts to book informed us that all rooms were unavailable.

Dear Brad,
Thank you for you lovely comments and feedback.
I was delighted to read that you enjoyed our breakfast and found our team to be friendly and helpful.
We only have two bikes as there is not hugh demand for them.
However since we read your feedback we have contacted a bike shop who, is prepared to rent extra bikes to us as the need arises.
Thank you again for your comments and we look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.
Mark Long.

Finding a venue for a 5 day event with over 100 people attending at times proved to be a challenge during a visit to Dublin in January. We arrived at Clontarf Castle at 4pm after a long day of viewing venues only to discover this place is amazing. The web photos are great but it is even better 'in the flesh'! We received a warm welcome and the staff were fantastic. We came away happy that our President and Chief Executive would be pleased with our choice of venue and waited for the actual event to take place in June 2012.

From that day in January to our arrival at Clontarf on 24 June, the communication with the hotel was excellent. On arrival, our delegates were delighted with the venue, particularly the International participants, and we really could not fault the service the hotel had to offer. Nothing was too much trouble and if we had a request pretty much within 5 minutes we had our answer or it had been done! Two members of staff in particular stood out; Mr Dawid Stachowski and Mr Lukas Ledwon. These guys were amazing and made sure our visit was as comfortable and hassle-free as possible. Nothing was too much trouble and I feel confident that they would agree when I say that very early on in the week we all became a team. Thank you guys.

The decor of the hotel is fabulous and whilst some of the rooms are not massive, they are all decorated to a high standard and have all the facilities you will need during your stay.

The food is excellent whether you're having a light snack in the Indigo Lounge or dining in the Knights Bar or Fahrenheit Grill. The standard and choice is excellent. Bar and waiting staff were all very friendly and did a great job at looking after us all.

We would definitely recommend Clontarf Castle whether it be for a private stay or a corporate event. These people know how to deliver a first class venue!
