I stayed here for 6 nights in total whilst on business in Dublin. The reception assistant was very polite, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. The bar is old and dated, with carpet and furniture ancient! Food was average and expensive. Breakfast was ok but the layout of the room is too open plan as I like a bit of peace and quiet 1st thing in the morning. I would recommend that you eat out whenever possible. Dawnson St, Grafton St and every street in between is full of lovely little eateries and restaurants that are cheaper than the hotel. My room (deluxe double) was comfortable with the bed being the highlight however the room looks tired with the furniture again in need of updating. Also for a 4* hotel Wifi should be included in the room rate!! (FYI Cafe Sol across the road has free wifi). Overall this hotel is in need a serious facelift with new carpets and furniture required.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the west side of the building. The east side has a pub (The Ginger Man) beside...

Stayed at the Davenport hotel from Thursday to Sunday (booked three months in advance and got very good deal on room rate). Nice room, facing the parking and therefore quiet. Bathroom with bathtub/shower, not the newest but functional and decent water pressure for a good shower. All in all clean and a firm matrass. Staff at the reception and at the bar are helpful and breakfast is nice and OK for the price. Hotel is excellent for going anywhere in the city center by foot, and within 2 min. walking distance of the DART station.
Would stay there again without hesitation.

This was our first trip to Dublin, me my husband and my four year old. We kind of stumble into this hotel when our previous hotel cancelled our reservation and told us about the O'Callaghan hotel. This was the best thing it could happened to us because it was the perfect hotel for us. We told them that we would be coming in at 5:30 am and we need it our room right away. When we arrived they already knew who we where and our room was ready and waiting for us after a very long trip. We wanted something close to everything but quite enought because we had our kid with us. This hotel gave us that opportunity, it's located in a quite street, once you walk 3 minutes you are in the middle of everything, Trinity College, Grafton St, St Stephen park, ETC... Everything you can imagine walking distance. The hotel was quite and nice, the rooms were big, and with enough space for all of us. Bathrooms were clean and spacious. We went down every morning for our traditional Irish breakfast (which I miss every day). The experience was superb and I can't imagine staying anywere else!!! Next time we go to Ireland O'Callaghan will be our hotel of choice!!! Thank you for your superb service!!!!!!

We stayed 4 nights at the Davenport in September 2011. Being from California we found the room just too cold even at the highest setting. The front desk said that the temperature for the entire hotel was set for "summer weather", and they will reset the temperature range. Not sure if this was just Irish humor, but it didn't feel a bit warmer to us. The Irish breakfast was great for the first two mornings, but soon got tiresome as it was the same fare every day. The combination bar and restaurant was very good and charming, and this made up for a lot, especially the Irish Coffees. The location of the hotel is very convenient for walking to local attractions, and the bus tours and taxis are readily available. I understand this was once one of the best hotels in Dublin, but for our next trip to Dublin, I will look for a more modern hotel. Anyone have any suggestions?

We stayed at this Hotel while attending a New Year Concert in the national Concert Hall. It is very well placed for this purpose and is within easy walking distance of Grafton St area and Temple Bar. The surrounding area is relatively quiet and yet is near the city buzz if that is what you like.
The hotel itself ,while not luxurious, was warm and comfortable on a cold weekend. Rooms also were warm and clean. This, together with friendly staff, made for a very pleasant stay.
Parking is available close by at a reduced rate, which is a plus in the city centre.
To sum up, we would certainly stay at this hotel again.
