Great tour. History and site itself is so worth visiting! It brings history to life. Really needs to be experienced. Don't miss this tour if you get to Dublin!

“In my opinions Dublin's most interesting and historic sight!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2012

Very Historic. Perfectively preserved ancient Jail built in the 1780s Very atmospheric. Also one of Dublin's best value visitor sites - €6. Guides are very knowledgeable and bring the place alive. Glad I wasnt a resident.

“Great experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2012

This is a great tour With alot of history. That said it does not have card facilities so cash or tourist pass only in the shop or tour. The tour also has no facility for non English speaking visitors. With that said our guide was excellent and was really up to speed for any question we asked

“Great tour of a historical jail and now a famous movie set!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 March 2012

We bought the last tour early and got back late 15 minutes after it started. They were very nice at the front, said no problem, and escorted us to catch up to the already started tour. This is a grim COLD place with many hallways/sections to see before you are taken to the big room with the Victorian metal architecture and skylight. Interesting to me to find out that it was the jail used in the movie "In The Name of the Father" with Daniel Day-Lewis, then the tour guide explained that it has been used in numerous films and shows! Incredibly moving. Note that the tour takes you out to the courtyard also (it was raining and he did not deviate from the course!) so be prepared in case you need an umbrella.
Very informative guide, hop-on hop-off buses stop right outside and there's a tiny cafe for light snacks and drinks. We enjoyed it and would recommend as something to see!

“Excellent, engaging Irish history lesson - eye opening experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 March 2012

Interesting perspective on Irish history, great guide, fascinating place. My top pick of the touristy stuff I did in Dublin.
Its a bit out of the way - I hopped off the hop on hop off bus tour which worked well.
