Home from home, excellent location for visiting Dublin

Review of Aberdeen Lodge
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Jul 2024
We had an excellent stay. The hotel is an exquisite period building and the room had a very comfortable bed, super shower and lovely view of the garden.
It is a very friendly environment and the owners are kind and helpful.
The location was peaceful and near the sea but it was very quick to get into the centre on buses or the train. In fact we walked back one evening and it only took 30 minutes.
We shall certainly stay here whenever we visit Dublin!

Staying at the Aberdeen was a vacation within a vacation. Clean and immaculate rooms. Cozy and peaceful. Scented with lilies. Amazing breakfast served friendly and wonderful staff. A very lovely place to stay and just be. Great location and wonderful and friendly staff...and the cuties dogs!

What a great place. You cannot find a nicer place. Lovely rooms, a fantastic atmosphere created by Ann and her staff.
The breakfast was excellent and the living room was like being at home.
Within walking distance, there is both a bus and a train to the center - so here you get both the tranquility of a residential area and yet can be in the center in a very short time. It was the perfect accommodation for us. Many thanks to Ann and the staff, and the dogs Sandra and Robin.

Delightful accommodation and excellent hosts who provided great advice on where to go and how to make the most of Dublins great public transport system. Good selection of restaurants in the local village. Nice to walk along the beach, though we could have done with a bit more sunshine. The sitting room was a great place to relax after a day exploring Dublin.

Of all the places we could have ended up in Dublin, we consider ourselves lucky to have found the Aberdeen Lodge, located on Park avenue in Sandymount, amid splendid examples of Victorian and Edwardian architecture. The inn itself is charming and comfortable, with an old-fashioned drawing and dining room.

But more importantly, the owner, Ann, was a warm and welcoming hostess--ready to call us cabs, recommend where to visit and eat. She went far beyond the typical amenities--she and her employees went the extra mile in every way: providing early breakfast, letting us in when we arrived before hours, and even were on call in the middle of the night.

Every part of the Inn is clean, homey and bright. The back gardens are lovely, and our hearts were warmed by the friendly dogs who greeted us when we went for a walk. We can't recommend the Aberdeen Lodge more highly. Two thumbs up!

Room tip: I was doing two weeks of work at Ardmore Studios in Bray, and the Aberdeen Lodge was the perfect getaway from work. Highly recommended.

Was greeted by friendly and welcoming hostess. They were informative about the area and local eateries. Was shown to room and asked if we wanted any help with the luggage. Room was spacious and clean. Bed was large and comfy. Was about 10min walk to the dart train which was convenient for getting about with out having to drive. Bus stop was nearly on the doorstep too. All in all a very very welcoming and comfy base to stay.
