We stayed at the 5 star Lough Eske Castle for a one night break in March
The first impressions were top class, beautiful reception, long walk to bedrooms however
worth the walk as the rooms are beautiful. very spacious and clean. Bathroom products luxurious. Personally next time i would have dinner in the bar as the menu offers more of our taste however service was impeccable in the restaurant. Breakfast, what a selection! I could have stayed all day, crepes, omlettes, full irish along with mouthwatering cheese, breads, meats and pasteries. lovely walks around the hotel and bar prices are very acceptable for a 5 star establishment. Staff were friendly and we will certainly return. the only downside is having to walk outside to go to the spa if the weather is cold or wet.

Stayed two nights here - what a great place to get away from it all. The double room was amazing, the largest I've ever stayed in. It had a four poster bed, a sofa and table and two side cabinets, a wall mouinted LCD tv and internet access both wired and wireless. There was a walk in wardrobe and a massive bathroom with a separate shower bath and double sink and a heated floor. The only draw back with the room was no biscuits with the complimentary tea and coffee.
The rest of the hotel is beautiful, all the lobby rooms have large sofas and settees with open fires. The food in the hotel is superb, we dined in the main restaurant on one night and the bar on the second night and could find no fault with either. The hotel breakfast is amazing so much variety and perfectly prepared. One of the stand out things about the hotel was its staff who never passed you without greeting you. When we arrived we were welcomed at the door by Michael who took our bags and after check in guided us to our room and showed us all the facilites. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and were always willing to have a conversation with you and do anything to make our stay more perfect. We were really amazed by the response to a drinks order not arriving to our room - the barman personally came and apologised to us at dinner and insisted we come to the bar afterwards for a complimentary drink from the bar. The dining room staff also ensured we took up the offer. When arrived at the bar the barman apologised again and let has any drink we wanted from an extensive list.
Used the hotel's gym and pool and spa facilities. The swimming pool was lovely, although disappointed there was no sauna and the steam room was hidden slightly with no signage pointing towards it.
The gym was disappointing, a smallest room and the 2 running machines were so noisy and the TV monitors didn't work on either - they would need to be serviced. Because the roof is so low when using the running machines a tall person is too close to the roof. Overall the leisure facilities didn't match up to the rest of the hotel's quality.
The spa facilites were enjoyed by girlfriend were she had a great treatment.
All in all a perfect hotel to get away from it all and get some quality relaxation and I would definately go back again

Room Tip: Rooms in the main hotel - rooms in the "stables" I believe are smaller.

I just loved this hotel! We had three nights here recently. Its in a beautiful location on the lake just outside Donegal town - a real chill out spot., The staff were so friendly and we got an upgrade too. The room was just beautiful - huge bed and fab bathroom. The spa/leisure centre is lovely. We had dinner one night and that was delicious, as were the breakfasts. We used the bikes that are left there by the hotel and cycled around the lake. There are little rooms off the reception too with lovely sofas where you can spend hours chilling out, reading and watching the world go by. A really lovely hotel and I can't wait to go back!
