This hotel is very nice, nice pool and nice rooms. The city is horrible, after travelling all day we wanted dinner at 7PM, everything in Cork is closed. Dont go there.

We are just back from a 1 night stay here and found almost everything fine with the hotel. The location was excellent very near the train statiion, the staff were lovely & friendly, food was excellent, rooms were fine (our room was a nice size but our friends room was on the small size an a bit of a tight squeeze). thw only compliant we had (and its not entirely the hotels fault) was the noise of the traffic going past all night.

Room Tip: Room 408 on the 4th floor is a bit of a tight squeeze whereas room 414 was fine,Good space and the e...

well run, and well maintained old style city centre hotel. great location for Everyman theatre, restaurants, bus station and shopping. Leisure centre is great for a city centre hotel. Bar very friendly and better value and more convivial than chateau pub on Patrick street

Just returned from a 2 night stay in the Gresham Metropole Hotel. This was booked through the hotel website and a smoking room was requested. When we arrived we were checked in very quickly and told where the parking was. We were allocated room 430( do not take this room if you are offered it for nothing). I have been in bigger closets. My husband went back to reception to request another room. We could have any other room but it wouldn't be a smoking room. The lady on reception was very helpful(didn't get her name) told us only 5 smoking rooms available in the hotel and they don't really do anything with them. Now I know smoking is very bad for you but surely if I hand over my money I'm entitled to a decent bed to sleep in. Stayed 1 night in room 430 and we were moved to 426 the next day. This was slightly bigger but not by much and very outdated. Floor and bathroom door squeeked. Also telly moved when you walked on the squeeky floor.
On a positive side. Bar and breakfast staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was lovely on both mornings and plenty of it.
Would I stay again not a chance.
Would I recommend it to anyone NO.
Pictures in brochures do not reflect any of the rooms I stayed in.
