Stayed here on business for one night. Good location in the centre of this busy buzzing city. Breakfast was good. Good value on a par with other hotels. Recommend to go to the Electric Bar along South Mall for excellent food.

My wife and I stayed last Saturday night (May 19th) on the occasion of a friend’s birthday party which was held in the hotel. The party was great, we were well looked after by the staff. However our accommodation was not at all good and certainly not good value for money at 120 euro (without breakfast!). A tiny, hot, noisy room beside the lift with a very small window looking out at a wall and shaft. The room was so small the baggage rack was in the wardrobe, there was about 40 cm between the bed and the wall on one side. Net curtain was dirty and damaged, and the tie-backs for the curtains were missing from the walls leaving holes in the plaster.

Not good enough.

Room Tip: ask for something on the side of the building

I stayed in the Imperial for a few days for business. Whilst the hotel was not bad it is nothing special either. I would have given it 3.5 stars, but since this is not possible on the Tripadvisor site I erred on the side fo caution. Here are some pros and cons:

Pros:
- Close to city centre
- Reasonably priced
- Free wifi
- Food in restaurant is surprisingly good.
- Helpful staff
- Free morning paper

Cons:
- Rooms are a bit dated though my room did have brand new carpet.
- I stayed right near the road on the side and it was a bit noisy (no double glass windows)
- Rooms are a bit old.
- Room was hot. This was particularly unpleasant at night.
- My (standard) room did not have a separate shower, but rather a shower curtain around the bath. The amount of light in the bathroom is not great and when closing the shower curtain the available light in the bath/shower is very low. No major problem, but a bit annoying.
- TV did not seem to work properly. Reception was quite poor.
- Room service is only available between 6pm and 9:30pm (or something like that).

I also found the hotel to be a maze. I had trouble finding my way around.

We have had two short city breaks in Cork in the last few months. On both occasions we stayed at the Imperial Hotel on the South Mall. The rooms are very comfortable and the service is excellent. Staff are well trained and extremely helpful. I think what we liked most about the Imperial is its dedication to customer service, both staying guests and visitors coming into the bar or the lovely parisienne style coffee shop. It means that the hotel is very much part of the life of the city and adds to its ambience. It is very centrally located for shopping and nightlife and we will definitely be back.

i chose this hotel for my mother's birthday treat because of its location. It's right in the centre of the city, walking distance to all amenities. We really enjoyed it. The room was a standard twin, nothing special, both the bed was very comfortable and the linen was good quality. My only criticism is that it took some enquiries before i found out that the cost of the leisure facilities was not included in the room price - which for a standard twin was pricey enough. We used the facilities all the same and enjoyed it. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Quiet rooms at the back!
