The entrance and reception are classy and elegant. The illusion ended there, for us.
The first room we were given looked out onto the street and was very noisy; acceptable in a city, so tried closing the window, but it was broken. We were moved to another room - overlooking the bins, two large fan units, roosting pigeons, with our bedroom window covered in droppings. Disgusting!
Bedrooms were basic, for a 4 star, with loo roll and tissues supplies of very cheap quality.
We had hired a car for our trip and the hotel charged for car parking on a daily basis. If you want to use the spa - you can - for a price! Discounted for guests, but nonetheless, we had expected it to be available as part of the hotel facilities.
Plus - if you want more than a basic couple of channels, you will be charged 6 Euros 50 cents, for internet or any additional tv channels. It seems this hotel charges for everything, so be aware of this when booking.
Pigeon feathers in the dining room completed our dissatisfaction with this establishment.
We have visited many 4 star hotels and guest houses in Europe; this one does not deserve its rating. Marble floors and chandeliers look good, but guests are more interested in personal comfort and in having pleasant facilities to return to after a busy day sightseeing, without having to pay extra for things which most 4 stars offer as standard.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback of which I was very disappointed to read. I appreciate your valid comments and I have acted immediately to improve on this negative bedroom experience.

I hope that this overall first experience of the hotel will not deter you from returning, as I know we can deliver a much better experience than this was for you.

If you are travelling back this way I would be delighted if your were to contact me personally so I deal with your room reservation and offer a discount to compensate for the poor impression you recieved.

I look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel.

regards

The lobby had a somewhat luxurious atmosphere. Strangely enough, there were three elevators and which one you took depended on where in the hotel you were. There were quite a lot of meeting rooms, and people were escorted in case they got lost. Which seemed possible, as everything wound around. I did use the Escape Spa to get my hair shampooed and blown dry, since the shower in my room was not good. Cost was quite reasonable.

/we stayed at the Imperial Hotel for two nights in June. It is lovely. The room was compact with a double bed and one single for our family of three, The bathroom was clean and had plenty of hot water. The linens were very nice.

The hot and cold buffet for breakfast was excellent and the location was fabulous--right downtown and within easy distance of the train and bus stations.

We would definitely go there again. We highly recommend it.

I stayed here overnight to meet up with a family member and chose this hotel due to it being so centrally located, the city centre can be reached by foot and it is quite close by taxi to the airport. I had read mixed reviews about the hotel and generally being quite picky about even small details in the hotels that i have stayed in previously i have to say i was pleasantly suprised by the good standard of my room. It was extremely spacious unlike my relatives room, modern in decor and very clean. As some people have mentioned it was was very warm in my room, i didnt attempt to turn the radiator down i must admit so that might have helped. My sister complained that her room was cold so was given a portable heater. The restuarant was very good in the evening as was the breakfast. There is a nice coffee shop in the front of the hotel too. The staff were generally pleasant and helpful, although the waiter at breakfast informed me infront of my companions that i wasnt entitled to breakfast, while i was eating it (!), which i had paid for on booking so i wasnt too happy with that. The only thing i wasn't overly keen on was the bar area, a bit dated and old fashioned i thought and there was some old crooner signing on the night that we stayed, him to be singing at your dads birhtday party. It was extremely loud too so difficult to talk over. That was the only negative really.

Room Tip: For a large and spacious room ask for room 330!!

We stayed in the Imperial Hotel for our friend's wedding. The hotel was stunning, lovely rooms, comfy beds and the food for the wedding breakfast was amazing. The location of the hotel was perfect not far from Cork airport and walking distance to shops, bars and restaurants. We also took a bus from Cork to Blarney which is well worth a visit, the castle and grounds were beautiful. One downside the price of drinks is absolutely extortionate in the hotel, so if you plan to drink in the hotel take plenty of money!!
