We visited Scéal Eile 2nd hand bookshop during a weekend break in February. It was such a treat. After about 30 mins browsing and finding a few gems, we had a long chat with the owner's father who was looking after the shop. There was a fire burning in the stove and he offered us tea or coffee. Very warm, very welcoming and very good value. Perfect for a rainy afternoon.

If you love books, you'll love this place! It is what a second-hand bookshop should be. Packed to the rafters, it offers everything, there are first editions, a mix of modern and very old books and lots of lovely children's books. The staff are very friendly and I could have spent the day there.

Charming might be the first word in a readers mind, entering. "Dickensian" you read in another review and you will accede.

This is not your average book-supermarket, where small cubois of printed paper are packed closely, to be sold to the hasty buying public.

Here, you can sattle down and browse the shelves. You will find some new and a vast range of second-hand & antiquarian books. Be aware of the variety of Irish & local history and their Irish-language stock.

Even batches of foreign language curios wait for the interested enthusiast.

Familial athmosphere and perhaps the best reason to visit Ennis, it was a pleasure.

This is such a wonderful bookshop, I hardly know where to begin! It's very hard to believe Sceal Eile is only a few years old. It's a cosey shop, almost Dickensian in style with a lit range and an armchair down the rear for browsers. Everytime I visit I find myself walking out with an armful of unexpected treasures. The selection of books available is ecclectic and diverse with something for everyone and anyone, I can't wait to visit again!
